Overview
About the Role: In this role, you will work on-site from a TurboTax location as part of a collaborative team of financial experts, serving in-person and virtual customers who use Intuit TurboTax products.
Your primary focus will be full-service tax return preparation, providing expert tax advice, calculations, and software support, but your responsibility extends beyond that. You will be the connective tissue between your customers and a broader team of specialists covering business tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, financial planning, and advisory services. This is not a hand-off model. You will sit in the same customer meetings, absorb the same context, and build a shared understanding of each customer's complete financial picture, then work in lock-step with the right experts to deliver a seamless, end-to-end Intuit experience.
Your ability to understand each customer's unique situation and connect with them on a personal level is critical. Taxes can be stressful, and your presence as a trusted, knowledgeable guide makes all the difference whether you're helping with a straightforward W-2 filing, navigating a major life event like marriage, a new child, or elder care, or tackling more complex scenarios involving business income, investments, or amendments.

Your role is not simply to deliver a service, but to ensure every client leaves with a clearer path and the full weight of Intuit's resources behind them for year-round support.
Build Relationships - Connect with people, demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to their financial concerns and build the long-term trust that turns a one-time transaction into a loyal, multi-year relationship.

Tax Expert Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax expert in Minnesota?
Most tax expert roles in Minnesota require a CPA license issued through the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, which administers the Uniform CPA Examination and requires a bachelor's degree with qualifying accounting and business coursework. Candidates without a CPA can enter through roles in tax preparation or bookkeeping and pursue licensure over time. An Enrolled Agent credential issued by the IRS is also recognized by Minnesota employers, particularly in smaller firms and specialized tax practices.
How much do tax experts make in Minnesota?
Tax experts in Minnesota earn a median of about $59,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,520 for the lowest 10% to over $95,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax experts in Minnesota?
Employers hiring tax experts in Minnesota right now include Intuit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large regional banks means corporate tax departments here tend to hire continuously rather than seasonally.
Which Minnesota cities have the most tax expert jobs?

The Twin Cities drive the bulk of demand through their dense cluster of corporate headquarters, regional accounting firms, and financial institutions, while Rochester's presence of major healthcare and technology employers and St. Cloud's growing professional services sector support consistent openings in those markets.

About 0% of tax expert openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well tax compliance and planning work translates to distributed teams. The roles most often posted as fully remote are federal and multi-state corporate compliance positions, while tax provision and audit support roles more commonly require hybrid or in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a tax expert in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff tax associate role at a regional or national public accounting firm with a Minnesota office, where structured training programs move new graduates through compliance work under senior review. Large Minnesota employers such as Target and U.S. Bancorp also hire junior tax analysts directly into their corporate departments. A completed accounting degree, active CPA exam candidacy, or a seasonal tax preparer role builds the foundation most hiring managers expect before considering candidates for full-time positions.
