Finance Associate Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance associate in Minnesota?
Most finance associate roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics as the foundation. From there, the path depends on the sector: corporate finance roles typically want a year or two of relevant internship or analyst experience, while roles at broker-dealers or investment firms may require FINRA licensing such as the Series 7 or Series 63, registered through FINRA's Central Registration Depository. Minnesota does not impose a separate state-level finance license for most associate roles, but employer-specific credentialing expectations vary by firm type.
Which companies hire finance associates in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring finance associates in Minnesota include Optum, Fredrikson & Byron, P.A., and UnitedHealth, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of large financial services headquarters, insurance carriers, and diversified corporations means steady, recurring demand rather than just project-based hiring.
Which Minnesota cities have the most finance associate jobs?
Minneapolis and Eden Prairie are the cities with the most finance associate openings in Minnesota. Minneapolis anchors the distribution as home to major bank and asset management headquarters, while surrounding suburban hubs like Bloomington and Minnetonka host large insurance and wealth management campuses that generate consistent associate-level demand outside the core city.
Are there remote finance associate jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles. About 80% of finance associate openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves data analysis, reporting, and system-based tasks that translate well to distributed settings. Financial analysis, budgeting support, and portfolio reporting functions are the most commonly offered in flexible arrangements, while roles with heavy client-facing or trading-floor responsibilities tend to stay on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance associate in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a rotational or new-graduate analyst program at one of Minnesota's large financial services employers. U.S. Bancorp, Ameriprise Financial, and Securian Financial all run structured programs that bring in candidates with limited experience and train them across business lines. Internships at these firms or at regional community banks frequently convert to full-time associate offers. Adjacent roles such as financial analyst intern, accounting assistant, or operations analyst provide lateral entry. Earning a CFA Level I designation or completing coursework toward a CPA credential signals commitment and gives candidates a practical edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to finance associate jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to finance associate jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, location preference, and area of focus, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
