Tax Senior Associate Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior associate in Missouri?
Most tax senior associate roles in Missouri require an active CPA license issued or recognized by the Missouri State Board of Accountancy, which governs CPA examination, licensure, and reciprocity in the state. Candidates typically hold a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or taxation with enough credit hours to sit for the CPA exam. Employers generally expect several years of progressive experience in tax compliance or advisory work before promoting or hiring at the senior associate level.
How much do tax senior associates make in Missouri?
Tax senior associates in Missouri earn a median of about $76,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,290 for the lowest 10% to over $128,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior associates in Missouri?
Companies currently hiring tax senior associates in Missouri include BDO, KPMG, and H&R Block, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, large regional public accounting firms, and financial services companies means demand at the senior associate level remains active across both corporate and public accounting tracks.
Which Missouri cities have the most tax senior associate jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia account for the greatest concentration of tax senior associate openings in Missouri. St. Louis leads because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, regional public accounting offices, and financial services firms, while Kansas City's growth in professional services and insurance drives substantial hiring there, and Springfield attracts openings tied to its expanding regional accounting and healthcare finance sectors.
Are there remote tax senior associate jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and more than most fields, since tax compliance and advisory work is largely document-driven and well suited to remote execution. About 44% of tax senior associate openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how comfortably this role translates away from a traditional office. Tax provision, federal compliance review, and partnership return work tend to appear most frequently in fully remote listings.
How can I get hired as a tax senior associate in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a staff or associate tax role at a Missouri public accounting firm, where structured advancement to the senior associate level is built into the career track. Large St. Louis and Kansas City firms, including regional offices of the national firms, run new-graduate and campus recruiting programs that place candidates directly into tax practice groups. Candidates who have passed CPA exam sections or hold a master's in taxation gain a clear edge, and lateral moves from roles in audit, financial reporting, or corporate accounting are also a common bridge into tax senior associate positions.
Where can I find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and preferred location or work arrangement, and apply directly to those positions.
