Tax Senior Manager Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior manager in Missouri?
The concrete path in Missouri starts with passing the CPA exam and obtaining licensure through the Missouri State Board of Accountancy, which requires a bachelor's degree with qualifying accounting credits and a period of supervised experience under a licensed CPA. From there, most tax senior managers build several years in public accounting or a corporate tax department, progressing through staff, senior, and manager roles before reaching the senior manager level.
How much do tax senior managers make in Missouri?
Tax senior managers in Missouri earn a median of about $76,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,290 for the lowest 10% to over $128,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior managers in Missouri?
Employers hiring tax senior managers in Missouri right now include BDO, KPMG, and H&R Block, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's strong base of regional public accounting firms, financial services companies, and large corporate headquarters in St. Louis and Kansas City keeps demand at this level consistent throughout the year.
Which Missouri cities have the most tax senior manager jobs?
The cities with the most tax senior manager openings in Missouri are St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia. St. Louis drives the largest share of volume through its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major regional public accounting offices, and financial services firms, while Kansas City adds steady hiring through its insurance, banking, and corporate tax functions.
Are there remote tax senior manager jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and more than many comparable senior roles. Tax senior manager work is largely analytical and desk-based, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 44% of tax senior manager openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Compliance review, ASC 740 analysis, and client advisory work are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while team oversight and client relationship duties often require some in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a tax senior manager in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a Missouri-based regional public accounting firm as a staff or senior tax associate and building toward manager before targeting senior manager roles. Large St. Louis and Kansas City firms run structured new-associate programs that develop technical tax skills quickly.
