Tax Senior Manager Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior manager in Ohio?
The concrete path starts with earning a CPA license through the Accountancy Board of Ohio, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting Ohio's education and experience requirements. Most candidates hold a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or taxation. From there, advancing through senior associate and manager roles in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department, building specialization in areas like tax provision or state and local tax, positions you competitively for a senior manager role in Ohio.
How much do tax senior managers make in Ohio?
Tax senior managers in Ohio earn a median of about $79,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,140 for the lowest 10% to over $131,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior managers in Ohio?
Employers hiring tax senior managers in Ohio right now include KPMG, Hantz, and CBIZ, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, Big Four offices, and large regional accounting firms makes it one of the more active markets in the Midwest for this role.
Which Ohio cities have the most tax senior manager jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati lead Ohio for tax senior manager openings. Columbus drives volume as the state capital and home to a dense cluster of corporate headquarters and Big Four offices, while Cleveland's large banking and manufacturing sector and Cincinnati's consumer goods and financial services firms sustain consistent demand across all three metros.
Are there remote tax senior manager jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most fields. Tax senior management is largely desk-based and analytical, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 32% of tax senior manager openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad adoption across both public accounting firms and corporate tax departments. Compliance and provision work tends to be the most remote-friendly, while client-facing advisory roles more often require some in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a tax senior manager in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a public accounting firm at the staff or senior associate level, where Ohio's Big Four and large regional firms such as Plante Moran and Clark Schaefer Hackett run structured new-graduate programs that build toward manager and senior manager promotion. Candidates who earn their CPA license early, develop a specialty in tax provision or state and local tax, and take on supervisory responsibilities in mid-market firm roles often reach senior manager level within several years without a direct senior manager title to start.
Where can I find and apply to tax senior manager jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to tax senior manager jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target market, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
