Position Summary

Unison Software is seeking an Integration Consultant to design, develop, and support system integrations connecting Unison's acquisition, grants management, and contract lifecycle solutions with client enterprise systems across federal civilian, defense, and intelligence community customers.

This is a hands-on technical delivery role. Integration Consultants build and maintain the interfaces that move data between Unison applications and client financial, procurement, personnel, and reporting systems, working directly with clients, functional consultants, project managers, and client technical teams to translate business requirements into reliable, secure, and maintainable integration solutions.

Interface complexity, number of concurrent integrations, and depth of independent ownership scale with experience level and are defined in the specific job posting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy integration solutions supporting real-time, near real-time, and batch data exchange between Unison and client systems
• Develop and maintain APIs, web services, data transformation processes, and integration workflows using approved platforms and technologies
• Analyze source and target system capabilities and define interface requirements, data contracts, and exchange formats
• Build error handling, retry logic, logging, alerting, and monitoring into integration solutions so failures are detected and diagnosed quickly
• Partner with clients, functional consultants, and project managers to gather requirements, evaluate technical approaches, and recommend integration solutions
• Coordinate with client technical teams and third-party system owners to establish connectivity, credentials, certificates, and testing windows
• Troubleshoot complex integration and data exchange issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable resolutions
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including interface specifications, architecture diagrams, data mapping documents, and deployment procedures
• Participate in code reviews, unit and system integration testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure reliable, maintainable, and secure interfaces
• Support implementation, upgrade, cutover, and post-production activities, including interface validation, production support, and defect resolution

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Professional experience designing, developing, or supporting system integrations, with depth of experience commensurate with the level of the position
• Prior software development experience is highly preferred
• Experience building interfaces between enterprise systems such as ERP, financial management, procurement, or personnel systems
• Experience supporting enterprise software or large-scale system implementations
• Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid)
• Experience supporting software implementations for federal government agencies or government contractors is preferred

Technical Skills and Exposure

• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational databases
• REST and SOAP web services, API design, and API management concepts
• Common integration patterns, including message routing, transformation, orchestration, and error handling
• Integration and ETL platforms such as Talend Data Services or comparable tools
• Java and integration frameworks such as Apache Camel and Apache CXF
• Message queuing, file transfer protocols, and scheduled batch processing
• Interface monitoring, logging, alerting, and error handling design
• Cloud-based integration architectures and hybrid on-premises integration
• Integration security concepts, including authentication, authorization, certificate management, and data protection

Federal Delivery and Data Environment

Familiarity with one or more of the following is preferred:

• Federal acquisition, contract, grants, and financial data structures and the systems that produce them
• Interfaces with federal financial, procurement, personnel, and reporting systems
• Handling of sensitive federal data, including personally identifiable information (PII) and controlled unclassified information (CUI)
• Federal security and compliance requirements, including FISMA, authority to operate (ATO), and Section 508 accessibility
• Working with government technical points of contact, information system security officers, and system owners

Core Skills and Abilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including with ambiguous or poorly documented systems and data
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication, including with non-technical client stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, client-facing environment
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and evolving client requirements

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
• Relevant technical certifications in database, cloud, or integration platform technologies are a plus
