Job Description
The Senior Solutions Consultant serves as a key partner to sales teams by supporting the sale, design, and implementation of complex products, services, and integrated solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with consultative selling skills to help customers understand how solutions align with and enhance their business operations.
The individual will bring a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s products, services, and technical capabilities while positioning bundled and solution-oriented offerings that address customer needs. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role builds customer confidence, resolves technical concerns, and guides prospects through all technical aspects of the sales cycle.
This is a highly visible opportunity for an individual who wants to make a meaningful impact. While the role sits within a large financial institution, the organization operates with the speed, urgency, and innovation of a technology company. The successful candidate will work across multiple lines of business, products, industries, and customer segments and will have significant exposure to senior executives and key leaders across the organization. In many cases, this individual will be viewed as a subject-matter expert and representative of best-in-class capabilities within the bank.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with sales teams to identify, develop, and close opportunities involving complex products, services, and integrated solutions.
Serve as the primary technical resource throughout the sales process, articulating the value and functionality of solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Conduct customer discovery sessions, pre-sales consultations, and technical discussions with prospective and existing clients.
Design, develop, and deliver customized client proposals, demonstrations, presentations, and solution recommendations.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value and practical solutions for customers.
Address technical objections, questions, and concerns throughout the sales and implementation lifecycle.
Consult with clients on solution architecture, integrations, strategies, and best practices to support their business objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assemble comprehensive customer solutions and ensure successful implementation.
Support proposal development, pricing strategies, and business-case creation.
Provide implementation guidance and post-sale support to facilitate successful client onboarding and adoption.
Deliver product education and technical training to sales teams and business partners.
Maintain current knowledge of products, technologies, industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging capabilities.
Help identify opportunities to improve existing solutions and develop new approaches to address evolving customer needs.
Build strong relationships with customers, sales teams, product leaders, technology teams, and senior executives.
Why This Role Is Different
This is not a traditional technical sales role within a large financial institution. The team operates with a high degree of speed, flexibility, and ownership, providing an environment where individuals can have a direct influence on how the business evolves.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on important strategic initiatives, solve complex customer challenges, and help shape solutions rather than simply execute an established playbook. The role provides exposure to senior executives and leaders across the organization and the ability to work across a broad range of businesses and capabilities.
For someone coming from a fintech, payments company, technology organization, or another financial institution, this role provides an opportunity to bring that experience into an organization with the scale, resources, stability, and reach of a major bank—while retaining the ability to move quickly and make an impact.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with energy, curiosity, initiative, and a genuine desire to make an impact. The ideal candidate is a builder and problem solver who enjoys figuring out how to make things work. They are comfortable with ambiguity, willing to challenge conventional thinking, and motivated to turn ideas into action. They take ownership, build strong relationships, and are willing to do the work necessary to deliver results.
The candidate may come from a fintech, payments company, technology organization, or another financial institution and be looking for an opportunity where their experience and ideas can have a broader impact.
Most importantly, this person wants to do meaningful work, have visibility with senior leadership, and help establish what best-in-class looks like within the bank.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Typically 10+ years of experience in technical sales, solutions consulting, solution architecture, payments, financial technology, or a related client-facing role.
Preferred Skills/Experience

Tips for Your Technical Solutions Engineer Job Search
Tailor your resume to the stack
Technical solutions engineer roles split between pre-sales and post-sales environments. Call out whether your experience is in proof-of-concept work, customer onboarding, or ongoing implementation, and list the specific platforms and APIs you have worked with directly.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists technical solutions engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Highlight measurable customer outcomes
Hiring managers for this role want proof you can translate technical complexity into business results. Quantify the outcomes you drove: time to implementation, support ticket reduction, or customer retention numbers tied to your work.
Target postings that match your integration depth
Filter openings by the technical layer they emphasize, whether REST APIs, cloud infrastructure, or a specific vendor ecosystem like Salesforce or AWS. Applying to roles that match your actual integration depth gets you past the technical screen faster.
Prepare a live demo or walkthrough artifact
Many technical solutions engineer interviews include a product demo or whiteboard architecture exercise. Build a short walkthrough of a real integration or solution you have delivered and practice explaining it to a non-technical stakeholder out loud.
Negotiate using scope, not just title
In offers for this role, push to clarify whether the position is primarily pre-sales, post-sales, or hybrid. Scope determines your on-call exposure, travel expectations, and commission eligibility, all of which affect total compensation more than base salary alone.
Technical Solutions Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most technical solutions engineers?
The companies hiring the most technical solutions engineers right now include Google, World Wide Technology, and Amazon, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is heaviest at enterprise SaaS and cloud infrastructure companies scaling their post-sales and pre-sales teams.
How many technical solutions engineer jobs are remote?
About 75% of technical solutions engineer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible technical roles on the market. Pre-sales positions tied to a regional territory tend to require more travel, while post-sales implementation and integration roles are most commonly listed as remote or hybrid.
How do you become a technical solutions engineer?
Most technical solutions engineers start in a technical support, software development, or systems administration role and build customer-facing experience over time. Getting comfortable explaining architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders is as important as technical depth. Vendor certifications in cloud or a major SaaS platform strengthen your candidacy, and a portfolio of documented integration or implementation work helps you stand out in interviews.
Can you get a technical solutions engineer job with little experience?
Entry-level technical solutions engineer roles exist, and they typically prioritize strong fundamentals over years in the title. Employers look for hands-on API or integration work from internships, personal projects, or adjacent roles in technical support or QA. Being able to walk through a working demo of something you built, even a small integration, carries more weight than credentials alone at the junior level.
What does the technical solutions engineer interview process look like?
Most hiring processes for this role run three to four stages. An initial recruiter screen is followed by a technical phone interview covering integration concepts, APIs, or the company's product stack. A take-home or live demo exercise is common, where you present a solution or walk through a mock customer scenario. Final rounds often include a panel with sales, engineering, and customer success stakeholders assessing both your technical and communication skills.
Where can I find and apply to technical solutions engineer jobs?
You can find and apply to technical solutions engineer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each listing. Openings update regularly, so checking back frequently gives you the best chance of catching new postings as they go live.
