Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Neurologist
Verify your MD credentials meet TN requirements
TN visa classification for neurologists requires a valid physician license in the U.S. state where you'll practice. Confirm your Canadian or Mexican medical degree and residency training will satisfy state medical board licensing before approaching employers.
Target academic medical centers with neurology departments
Hospital systems and university-affiliated neurology departments frequently sponsor work visas. Prioritize organizations that have a dedicated HR immigration team, since those employers are experienced with visa sponsorship processes and familiar with supporting international candidates.
Negotiate the support letter timeline before signing
Your employer will need to prepare a support letter documenting your role, qualifications, and TN eligibility before you can proceed with your application. For Canadian citizens, present this letter at the U.S. border or port of entry; for Mexican citizens, your employer's letter supports your application at a U.S. consulate. Confirm the employer will have this letter ready at least two weeks before your intended start date to avoid delays.
Use Migrate Mate to find neurologist roles with TN sponsorship
Searching for employers already experienced with work visa sponsorship for physicians saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces neurologist openings at employers with recent visa filings, so you're not starting the conversation from scratch.
Prepare a role-specific TN support letter from your employer
CBP officers adjudicate TN petitions at the border on the spot for Canadians. Your employer's support letter must explicitly state the neurology duties, your MD credentials, and that the role meets the physician specialty occupation definition.
Address Mexican TN cap limits early in your job search
Mexican citizens face an annual TN allocation of 5,500. Start the sponsorship conversation with employers well before your intended start date and confirm they'll file promptly, since cap exhaustion mid-year can delay your entry.
Neurologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a neurologist role qualify for the TN visa?
Yes. Neurologists qualify under the USMCA physician and surgeon category. You need an MD or DO degree, a valid license in the U.S. state where you'll practice, and a job offer from a U.S. employer. The role must involve direct patient care or clinical research, not purely administrative duties.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for neurologist roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no lengthy USCIS adjudication wait. Canadian neurologists can be admitted at a port of entry the same day with the right documents. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship months in advance, lottery selection, and a minimum six-month processing window before the October 1 start date.
Where can I find neurologist jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can search neurologist openings filtered by employers with TN filing experience, which narrows the field to organizations already familiar with the physician TN documentation requirements.
Can Mexican neurologists apply for TN status the same way Canadians can?
No. Canadian citizens can present their TN petition directly at a U.S. port of entry and receive a decision on the spot. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate abroad and receive a TN visa stamp before traveling. Mexican nationals also fall under the 5,500 annual TN allocation, which can affect timing.
Does my employer need to pay government fees for my TN petition?
TN petitions filed at the Canadian border require no government filing fee when presented in person. If your employer files Form I-129 on your behalf through USCIS, standard I-129 filing fees apply. Confirm with your employer which route they intend to use before finalizing your start date and paperwork timeline.
