Travel Nurse RN Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel nurse rn in Vermont?
To work as a travel nurse rn in Vermont, you must hold a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the Vermont Board of Nursing or a multistate Nurse Licensure Compact license from a participating state. You earn initial licensure by completing an accredited nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Most Vermont travel assignments also require prior acute care experience in a specialty unit before a staffing agency or hospital will place you.
How much do travel nurse RNs make in Vermont?
Travel nurse RNs in Vermont earn a median of about $97,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,670 for the lowest 10% to over $126,100 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire travel nurse rns in Vermont?
Employers hiring travel nurse rns in Vermont right now include Healthforce, Voyage Health, and American Traveler, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Vermont's relatively small healthcare market means a handful of large regional systems and critical access hospitals drive most of the contract volume in the state.
Which Vermont cities have the most travel nurse rn jobs?
The Vermont cities with the most travel nurse rn openings are Burlington, Saint Johnsbury, and Newport. Burlington leads because the University of Vermont Medical Center is the state's only academic Level 1 trauma center and largest employer, while Rutland and Montpelier contribute volume through their regional medical centers serving large rural catchment areas.
How can I get hired as a travel nurse rn in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a new graduate residency program at a Vermont hospital before pursuing travel contracts. The University of Vermont Medical Center and Rutland Regional Medical Center both run structured nurse residency programs that accept newly licensed RNs and provide the clinical hours most travel staffing agencies require. Building experience in med-surg or step-down units first, and obtaining BLS and ACLS certifications early, strengthens your candidacy considerably for Vermont travel placements.
