Travel Nurse RN Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel nurse rn in Hawaii?
You become a travel nurse rn in Hawaii by holding an active registered nurse license issued or recognized by the Hawaii Board of Nursing, which is reached through passing the NCLEX-RN after completing an accredited associate or bachelor's degree nursing program. Hawaii is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so nurses licensed elsewhere must apply for a Hawaii RN license by endorsement before starting any assignment there. Most Hawaii travel assignments additionally require recent acute care hospital experience.
How much do travel nurse RNs make in Hawaii?
Travel nurse RNs in Hawaii earn a median of about $136,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,500 for the lowest 10% to over $147,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire travel nurse rns in Hawaii?
Hawaii travel nurse rn roles are posted by Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Professional Case Management and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentrated health system landscape means a small number of large employers, including multi-hospital systems based on Oahu, account for the majority of travel nursing contracts across the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most travel nurse rn jobs?
Hilo, Honolulu, and Kealakekua are the Hawaii cities with the most travel nurse rn openings, reflecting where the state's largest acute care hospitals and specialty medical centers are based. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the highest concentration of hospital beds and tertiary care facilities in the state, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona generate steady demand through Big Island community hospitals serving large regional populations with fewer local nurses.
How can I get hired as a travel nurse rn in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a new graduate residency program at one of Hawaii's major health systems, such as The Queen's Health Systems or Hawaii Pacific Health, which run structured transition-to-practice programs for nurses without hospital experience. Candidates can also move laterally from long-term care, home health, or clinic roles into hospital float pool positions that build the acute care hours most Hawaii travel contracts require. Holding a current Hawaii RN license by endorsement and an up-to-date BLS certification gives applicants a clear edge in the credentialing process.
Where can I find and apply to travel nurse rn jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to travel nurse rn jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Hawaii employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred island or city, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
