Healthcare Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare in Hawaii?
The path depends on your specific healthcare role, but most clinical positions in Hawaii require licensure through the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Professional and Vocational Licensing division. Registered nurses, physical therapists, and other licensed professionals must apply for a Hawaii state license after completing an accredited program and passing the relevant national exam. Many Hawaii employers also require current CPR or specialty certifications before you start.
Which companies hire healthcares in Hawaii?
Hawaii healthcare roles are posted by TP, WTW, and Stantec and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's healthcare hiring is anchored by large integrated health systems and federally qualified health centers serving both urban Honolulu and the outer islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most healthcare jobs?
Honolulu, Hawaii, and Lihue have the most healthcare openings in Hawaii right now. Honolulu drives the bulk of listings as home to the state's largest hospital systems and specialty clinics, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona reflect steady demand from hospitals and community health centers serving Hawaii Island's growing and aging population.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're rare. Most healthcare roles require in-person presence for patient care, clinical procedures, or hands-on support. About 100% of healthcare openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in areas like health informatics, medical coding, care coordination, and telehealth services where direct patient contact is not required.
How can I get hired as a healthcare in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate or entry-level roles at Hawaii's major health systems, which run structured residency and transition-to-practice programs. Hawaii Pacific Health and The Queen's Health Systems both offer new-grad nurse residency programs. Roles like patient care technician, medical assistant, or health unit coordinator let you build clinical exposure before advancing. A current Hawaii license or active enrollment in an accredited program strengthens your application significantly.
