About the role:
The Director of Information Technology serves as both the strategic architect and hands-on technical leader of our IT organization. This individual will report to the Chief People Officer and will operate at every altitude — setting the technology vision and infrastructure roadmap at the executive level, then rolling up their sleeves to work alongside the team on critical systems.
The Director will lead major infrastructure initiatives, including ERP and Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementations, while directly leading, mentoring, and managing a team of systems administrators, database administrators, platform engineers, and help desk technicians. As lead architect, this person will design and maintain a synergistic technology stack — cloud, on-premise, and SaaS systems working together as one cohesive whole — while staying close enough to day-to-day operations to monitor, coach, and continually sharpen the team’s technical skills.
This role also owns the technical architecture connecting our growing family of digital storefronts and partner platforms — our direct-to-consumer site, our professional/B2B ordering platform, our Amazon Brand Store, and the various partner and education portals that support our professional network — ensuring inventory, orders, and customer data stay accurate and in sync across every channel we sell through.
This role is fully on-site and can report to either our Mesa, AZ or Burbank, CA facility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Platform Architecture:
- Serve as lead architect for the company’s entire technology stack, designing and maintaining a synergistic ecosystem of cloud, on-premise, and SaaS systems that work seamlessly together.
- Lead major infrastructure and platform initiatives from evaluation through go-live, including ERP and Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
- Expertly manage the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and guide the ongoing transition from on-premise servers to cloud solutions such as OneDrive/SharePoint.
- Oversee network security, data integrity, and disaster recovery planning across the organization.
- Evaluate and enhance current IT systems and solutions, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Architect and manage the use of AI to augment and support expansion in this technology while ensuring proper safeguards for data integrity and security (OpenAI, Anthropic, and others).
E-Commerce & Digital Channel Architecture:
- Own the technical architecture and performance of the company’s direct-to-consumer e-commerce storefront and its separate professional/B2B ordering platform, ensuring both integrate cleanly with core ERP, inventory, and fulfillment systems rather than operating as disconnected silos.
- Manage the technical relationship with outside e-commerce development agencies and platform vendors supporting our web properties, keeping security patching, platform upgrades, and roadmap priorities aligned with business needs.
- Architect toward a more unified customer and partner data model across our growing set of web properties — consumer storefront, professional ordering portal, account management, partner concierge program, partner benefits site, and professional education platform — reducing fragmentation and manual reconciliation between systems.
- Own the systems and integrations supporting our Amazon Brand Store and other marketplace/authorized-retailer channels, including catalog, inventory, and order-fulfillment data flow back into core systems.
- Partner with Legal and Marketing to support brand-protection and anti-diversion efforts, including tools or processes to monitor unauthorized third-party sellers and marketplace listings.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements in the markets our web storefronts are accessible, including CCPA, GDPR, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure uptime, scalability, and checkout performance across all digital storefronts during peak-demand periods such as product launches, promotions, and holiday sales.
- Evaluate and integrate commerce and marketing technology — personalization tools, AI-driven product recommendation features, loyalty programs, and subscription platforms — to support direct-to-consumer growth.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Directly lead, manage, and mentor a team of systems administrators, database administrators, platform engineers, and help desk technicians.
- Stay hands-on to monitor, coach, and elevate the team’s technical skills — not managing from a purely administrative distance.
- Build and sustain a collaborative, egoless, growth-focused culture, providing hands-on coaching and career development for direct reports.
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs for the IT department, and establish monitoring practices to track both system performance and team output.
- Serve as the organization’s go-to technology expert, ready to dive into hands-on troubleshooting when critical issues arise.
Strategy, Budget & Governance:
- Develop and implement IT strategies, roadmaps, and budgets aligned with short- and long-term business goals.
- Own the organization’s technology roadmap end to end, supporting both internal and external (B2B and B2C) needs.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and department leaders to identify and fulfill current and future technological needs.
- Work cross-functionally with divisional heads to tailor technology roadmaps to their specific business needs.
- Manage technology vendor relationships, purchasing, and contract negotiations.
- Identify and champion technologies that elevate products, services, and operational efficiency; stay ahead of technology trends to propose innovative, cost-saving, or revenue-generating solutions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field required; a master’s degree and/or related certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP) highly preferred.
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in IT, with at least five years in a managerial or team-leadership role.
- Demonstrated success leading, growing, and mentoring a multidisciplinary IT team.
- Proven experience serving as lead architect for an enterprise technology stack, with the ability to design and integrate systems so they work synergistically rather than in silos.
- Hands-on experience leading major infrastructure or platform transformations, such as ERP and/or WMS implementations.
- Strong technical depth across systems administration, databases, platform engineering, network engineering, and network security — comfortable working alongside the team, not just directing from above.
- Direct experience architecting or managing e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Magento including their integration with ERP and order management systems.
- Comfort managing a distributed web ecosystem spanning multiple platforms, subdomains, and vendors, with an eye toward consolidating and simplifying over time.
- Experience managing outside e-commerce development agencies or platform vendors.
- Familiarity with brand-protection, MAP enforcement, or marketplace-monitoring tools and practices is a plus.
- Experience in telecommunications, databases, and storage systems.
- Strong proficiency in computer systems (Windows and Mac).
- Exceptional communication, organizational, analytical, and managerial skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Which companies sponsor visas for director of program management roles in Arizona?
Intel's Chandler campus, Honeywell's Phoenix headquarters, Raytheon Technologies in Tucson, Banner Health, and American Express are among the Arizona employers with established histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for senior program management positions. Large technology and defense contractors in the Phoenix-Scottsdale corridor tend to have dedicated immigration support teams, making them more experienced with sponsoring director-level candidates than smaller regional employers.
Which visa types are most common for director of program management roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for director of program management positions in Arizona, given the role's requirement for a specialized degree in business, engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1A visas through multinational transfers also fill director-level roles, particularly at companies like Intel and Honeywell with large global operations. O-1 visas occasionally apply for candidates with exceptional records of program leadership.
Which cities in Arizona have the most director of program management sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs, including Chandler, Scottsdale, and Tempe, account for the majority of director of program management sponsorship opportunities in Arizona. Intel's semiconductor operations in Chandler alone generate significant program management demand. Tucson is a secondary market driven by Raytheon Technologies and the University of Arizona's research programs, particularly in aerospace and defense program management.
How to find director of program management visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse director of program management roles in Arizona without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role to see which Arizona companies are actively hiring at the director level with sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to reviewing general job postings where sponsorship intent is often unclear.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for director of program management sponsorship candidates?
Arizona's concentration in semiconductor manufacturing, driven by Intel's Chandler campus and the broader CHIPS Act-funded expansion, has increased demand for experienced program management leaders with technical backgrounds. The state's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions at the director level are calculated using Department of Labor data for the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan statistical areas, so compensation benchmarks reflect those local markets rather than national figures.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored director of program management jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
