Job Description
The Network Security Architect will design and build the network security architecture our environment runs on, from firewall and segmentation design through cloud network architecture, and will stay engaged through implementation alongside engineering, not hand off a design and move on.
The Network Security Architect role sits within the Chief Information Security Officer Office, reporting to the Director of Security Architecture and Engineering (SA&E).
Essential Functions

Designs network security architecture from the ground up: firewall policy and configuration, network segmentation, Zero Trust access design, and cloud network architecture in Microsoft Azure.
-
Leads technical migrations end to end: assesses the current environment, designs the target state, builds the configuration, and manages the cutover.
-
Works directly alongside engineering through the build and implementation phase of every project they design, adjusting the design in real time when engineering encounters something the design did not account for. This role is expected to close the gap between architecture and engineering, not operate on one side of it.
-
Reviews existing network security architecture, identifies gaps, and designs the remediation, including hands on work to resolve technical debt in legacy configurations.
-
Assesses, scopes, and estimates the work and hours required to deliver security architecture components of larger projects and programs.
-
Serves as the technical expert and trusted advisor to engineering, IT, and business partners on network security design questions.

Stays current on emerging network security technologies and threats and incorporates them into architecture as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.

-
Advanced, hands on knowledge of network technologies: protocols, design concepts, segmentation, and access control.
-
Advanced, hands on knowledge of security technologies: encryption, data protection, access privilege design.
-
Direct configuration experience with firewall platforms, not solely policy or diagram level experience.

Which companies in Arkansas sponsor visas for solutions architects?
Windstream Communications, headquartered in Little Rock, has a consistent history of H-1B filings for technical roles including solutions architects. Dillard's technology division and Walmart's enterprise technology teams in the Northwest Arkansas corridor are also notable sponsors. National consulting firms with Arkansas offices, such as Accenture and Deloitte, regularly sponsor solutions architects and file a significant share of H-1B petitions in the state.
Which visa types are most common for solutions architect roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for solutions architects in Arkansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. The L-1B intracompany transferee visa is also relevant for candidates moving from a foreign affiliate of a U.S. employer with Arkansas operations. TN visa status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technology roles.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Little Rock is the primary hub, home to Windstream, state government IT contracts, and a growing financial technology sector. The Northwest Arkansas metro, anchored by Bentonville and Fayetteville, has expanded significantly due to Walmart's global technology operations and a surrounding vendor ecosystem that relies on solutions architects. Fayetteville also benefits from proximity to the University of Arkansas, which generates local technical talent and attracts employer investment.
How to find solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify solutions architect roles in Arkansas where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered postings, you can focus on companies with verified sponsorship history. Searching Migrate Mate for solutions architect positions in Arkansas is a practical starting point, particularly for roles in Little Rock and the Northwest Arkansas corridor.
What should solutions architects know about prevailing wages and hiring conditions in Arkansas?
Employers sponsoring H-1B visas for solutions architects in Arkansas must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying they will pay at least the prevailing wage for the role and location. Arkansas prevailing wages for solutions architect positions are generally below those in coastal tech markets, which can make sponsorship more straightforward for employers managing compensation budgets. The University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University also produce graduates who sometimes pursue sponsorship through OPT before transitioning to H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solutions architect jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
