Which companies sponsor visas for administrative assistants in California?
Large technology employers in the Bay Area, including Google, Apple, Meta, and Salesforce, have sponsored administrative assistant roles. Healthcare systems such as Kaiser Permanente and UCLA Health also hire internationally for administrative support positions. Entertainment and media companies in Los Angeles, along with biotech firms in San Diego's Torrey Pines corridor, round out the main employer categories in California.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common employment-based visa for sponsored workers in the U.S., but administrative assistant positions typically require demonstrating that the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Some applicants pursue the O-1 visa for extraordinary ability. TN visa status covers Canadian and Mexican nationals in specific occupational categories. Each case depends on the employer's petition and the role's specific duties.
Which cities in California have the most administrative assistant sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area lead California for sponsored administrative roles, driven by the density of large technology and financial services employers. Los Angeles is the second major hub, with entertainment, media, and healthcare organizations active in this space. San Diego contributes through its life sciences and defense sectors, while Sacramento-area state government agencies and Sacramento's growing tech presence add additional opportunities.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters administrative assistant roles in California by visa sponsorship availability, saving significant research time. Because employers are not always explicit about sponsorship in job postings, using a dedicated platform like Migrate Mate, which aggregates verified sponsoring employers, gives you a more reliable starting point than general search methods.
Are there state-specific considerations for administrative assistant sponsorship jobs in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are set at levels reflecting the high cost of living in cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles, which means sponsored positions typically carry competitive compensation benchmarks. California's large university system, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC, produces a significant share of internationally sponsored administrative hires, particularly for roles within the universities themselves or adjacent research institutions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
