Which companies sponsor visas for corporate development managers in California?
Technology companies with large M&A programs are among the most consistent sponsors in California. Alphabet, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, and Adobe in the Bay Area, along with Qualcomm and Illumina in San Diego, have documented histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for corporate development and strategy roles. Biotech firms such as Genentech and Gilead Sciences also sponsor regularly for business development positions with strategic deal-making responsibilities.
Which visa types are most common for corporate development manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for corporate development managers in California. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, business, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in deal-making or strategy may also explore the O-1A. Australians with qualifying degrees are eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than the H-1B.
Which cities in California have the most corporate development manager sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, particularly San Francisco, San Jose, and Menlo Park, concentrates the highest volume of corporate development manager sponsorship activity, driven by the density of large technology companies with active M&A pipelines. Los Angeles has a growing base in media, entertainment technology, and consumer brands. San Diego sees consistent demand from life sciences and defense technology companies with structured business development functions.
How to find corporate development manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify California employers actively hiring corporate development managers who need sponsorship. Rather than sorting through unfiltered postings, you can focus on roles where sponsorship is confirmed. Migrate Mate also covers both H-1B and E-3 eligible roles, which is particularly useful if you're an Australian national targeting Bay Area or Los Angeles-based companies.
Are there any California-specific considerations for corporate development manager visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program reflect the state's high cost of living, meaning employers must pay wages that meet Department of Labor wage levels for the specific metropolitan area. Bay Area prevailing wages are among the highest in the country for business and finance occupations. Additionally, California's concentration of venture-backed startups means some employers may be smaller companies with less established immigration infrastructure, making it worth evaluating a prospective employer's sponsorship track record before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored corporate development manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
