Search Director, Product Management Jobs in CaliforniaDirector, Product Management Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for director, product management roles in California?
Large technology companies with significant California footprints are the most active sponsors for director-level product management roles. Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Intuit, and Snap have consistent histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for senior product leaders. Enterprise software firms and late-stage startups headquartered in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly, particularly for candidates with specialized platform, AI, or growth product experience.
Which visa types are most common for director, product management roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for director, product management roles in California, as these positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, business, or engineering. Senior candidates with extraordinary recognition in their field may qualify for the O-1A. Australian citizens may pursue the E-3 visa. Some employers also support L-1A transfers for directors moving from an affiliated overseas office.
Which cities in California have the most director, product management sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, Menlo Park, and San Francisco itself, accounts for the largest share of director, product management sponsorship activity in California. Los Angeles has grown significantly, driven by media-tech, e-commerce, and consumer app companies. San Diego has a smaller but active market anchored by biotech and defense-adjacent software firms. Remote-friendly roles headquartered in California also appear frequently.
How to find director, product management visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse director, product management openings in California without sifting through roles that won't support international candidates. Because director-level roles are often filled through targeted searches rather than broad postings, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for California-based product director positions helps surface new listings quickly. Prioritizing companies with documented H-1B sponsorship histories strengthens your search.
Are there state-specific considerations for director, product management visa sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program apply based on the specific metro area where the role is located, and Bay Area prevailing wages for director-level product management are among the highest in the country. California also has strong worker protections that interact with employment contracts, so offers should be reviewed carefully. The state's concentration of cap-exempt research institutions and nonprofit affiliates can create additional H-1B pathways for candidates working on qualifying projects.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored director, product management jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
