About the Team
DoorDash Labs, established in 2018, serves as the innovation hub for DoorDash, focusing on developing automation and robotics solutions to enhance last-mile logistics. The team's mission is to create technologies that support and augment human networks, aiming to improve efficiency for Dashers, merchants, and consumers alike. We're ruthlessly focused on business impact. We are a highly senior team composed of former pioneers from a variety of different robotics industries. As of 2025, DoorDash has completed 10B lifetime deliveries. We're focused on how to do the next 10B even better.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team, with a focus on developing production-grade electrical systems for consumer and enterprise hardware platforms (e.g., tablets, POS systems, peripherals, and connected devices).
This role demands a strong background in mixed-signal board design, power systems, wireless integration, and high-volume product development. The ideal candidate has a passion for building and shipping reliable hardware at scale and thrives in an environment that demands technical depth and high-quality execution across multiple concurrent programs.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Architect and implement electrical subsystems including:
- Power systems: battery management, charging, DC/DC converters, power distribution, and protection.
- Digital and mixed-signal board design: application processors, MCUs, high-speed interfaces (USB, PCIe, MIPI, etc.), memory, and sensor integration.
- Wireless systems: WiFi, BLE, LTE, antennas, and EMI/EMC-conscious layout and integration.
- Peripheral and display integration: touch interfaces, display subsystems, and external connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of electrical hardware from concept, schematic capture, layout review, through bring-up, validation, certification, and production handoff.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, product, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware into polished, field-deployed products.
- Drive design for reliability and manufacturability (EVT, DVT, PVT, yield optimization, cost-down initiatives, etc.).
- Lead board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting using lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.).
- Support initial firmware bring-up and system integration as needed (bare metal, RTOS, embedded Linux, or Android-based systems).
- Contribute across multiple programs — including merchant-facing hardware and emerging automation or robotics efforts — as business needs evolve.
We're excited about you because…
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in hands-on electrical hardware development.
- Proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer or enterprise electronics.
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Power management and battery-operated product design.
- Digital and analog circuit design, simulation, and layout best practices.
- High-speed digital design and signal/power integrity considerations.
- Wireless system integration and EMI/EMC-aware layout techniques.
- Strong hands-on experience with board bring-up, testing, and debugging.
- Experience working with ODM/JDM or contract manufacturing partners to scale products to mass production.
- Fluent with tools like Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties, including evaluating options, making informed decisions, and determining appropriate courses of action within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing tablets, POS systems, or other connected consumer/enterprise devices.
- Familiarity with firmware development in C/C++ and embedded system integration.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and certification processes (FCC, CE, etc.).
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and post-launch field reliability improvements.
- Exposure to electromechanical or robotics systems.
- You've shipped hardware at scale in customer-facing products.
- Thrive in high-integrity, fast-paced, high-ownership engineering environments.
- You are an engineer in your personal life and have the projects to prove it.
- Have worked with in-house and contract manufacturing teams.
- Are obsessed with craftsmanship.
- Live and breathe extreme ownership.

Which e-commerce companies in California sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas?
California-based e-commerce employers with documented Labor Condition Application filing histories include Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Etsy, and Wish, along with logistics-adjacent platforms like DoorDash and Instacart. Marketplace technology companies concentrated in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles have filed H-1B1 visa Chile LCAs for roles in engineering, product, and data. Filing history varies by year and business need, so reviewing DOL disclosure data provides the most accurate picture.
Which California cities have the most e-commerce H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs?
San Jose and San Francisco lead in e-commerce H-1B1 Chile sponsorship activity due to their concentration of technology-driven marketplace companies and fulfillment infrastructure firms. Los Angeles is a strong secondary market, particularly for direct-to-consumer brands, social commerce platforms, and fashion e-commerce employers headquartered in the region. Smaller clusters exist in San Diego and Sacramento, primarily tied to retail technology and supply chain operations.
What types of e-commerce roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship in California?
Roles that qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In California's e-commerce sector, qualifying positions commonly include software engineer, data scientist, product manager, UX researcher, machine learning engineer, and digital marketing analyst roles where the employer documents that a specific degree is a baseline requirement. Generalist or operations roles without a defined degree requirement typically do not qualify.
How do I find e-commerce H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface California e-commerce employers with verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history. Because H-1B1 Chile sponsorship requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa appointment, targeting companies with prior LCA activity in e-commerce roles significantly improves your chances of a straightforward sponsorship process.
Are there California-specific or e-commerce-specific considerations for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
California's strict employment classification laws mean e-commerce employers are generally careful to structure H-1B1 Chile positions as direct W-2 employment rather than contractor arrangements, since the LCA requires a bona fide employer-employee relationship. For e-commerce roles involving remote or hybrid work across multiple California locations, employers must post LCA notices at each worksite where the worker will be placed. Chilean nationals should also confirm their employer's prevailing wage determination covers the specific California metro area where the role is based.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Chile e-commerce jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
