Which companies sponsor visas for program supervisors in California?
Healthcare systems like Kaiser Permanente and Dignity Health, technology companies including Salesforce, Google, and Apple, and large nonprofit and government-adjacent organizations are among the most active sponsors for program supervisor roles in California. County and city agencies managing social services, public health, and workforce development programs also sponsor international hires, particularly when roles require specialized education or multilingual program management expertise.
Which visa types are most common for program supervisor roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program supervisors in California, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as public health, social work, education, or business administration. The O-1A applies to candidates with demonstrated exceptional ability in their field. Some nonprofit and government-affiliated employers qualify as cap-exempt H-1B petitioners, which can simplify the sponsorship process for eligible organizations.
Which cities in California have the most program supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles and San Francisco consistently have the highest volume of program supervisor sponsorship opportunities, driven by large healthcare networks, technology firms, and nonprofit sectors. San Jose and the broader Bay Area are strong for tech-adjacent program roles. Sacramento is a significant hub for state government and public health program supervisors, while San Diego has demand through biotech, defense-adjacent nonprofits, and border health programs.
How to find program supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters program supervisor roles in California by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support work authorization. Employers on Migrate Mate have indicated sponsorship willingness, which saves significant time for candidates navigating H-1B or other visa pathways. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate gives you a focused list relevant to your situation.
Are there any California-specific considerations for program supervisor sponsorship candidates?
California's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are generally higher than national averages, reflecting the state's cost of living, particularly in the Bay Area and Los Angeles metro. Employers must certify wages meeting Department of Labor prevailing wage levels for the specific county where work is performed. Candidates with degrees from UC or CSU system schools, or with experience in California's large Medi-Cal and county behavioral health systems, are well-positioned for local program supervisor openings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program supervisor jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
