Which companies sponsor visas for program supervisors in Iowa?
In Iowa, visa sponsorship for program supervisor roles has come from healthcare systems such as UnityPoint Health and MercyOne, the University of Iowa and Iowa State University for research or student services programs, and large nonprofit human services organizations operating under state contracts. Employers in workforce development and behavioral health tend to sponsor when candidates hold specialized credentials that are difficult to source domestically.
Which visa types are most common for program supervisor roles in Iowa?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for program supervisor positions in Iowa when the role requires a specialized bachelor's degree or higher, such as social work, public health, or education administration. Nonprofit employers, including many Iowa universities and health systems, may qualify as cap-exempt H-1B filers, which allows year-round petitioning outside the annual lottery. The O-1 visa is an option for candidates with demonstrated exceptional achievement in their field.
Which cities in Iowa have the most program supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines concentrates the highest volume of program supervisor opportunities in Iowa, driven by state agency contractors, managed care organizations, and large nonprofits. Iowa City is a secondary hub due to the University of Iowa's hospitals, research centers, and student affairs divisions. Cedar Rapids supports supervisory roles through its health and human services sector. Ames sees demand from Iowa State University and affiliated research programs.
How to find program supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter program supervisor roles in Iowa by visa sponsorship status, so you're not sifting through listings that won't support work authorization. Iowa's sponsoring employers are concentrated in healthcare, higher education, and human services, and those sectors are well represented on Migrate Mate. Setting up alerts for Iowa program supervisor roles helps you reach active openings early.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for program supervisors in Iowa?
Iowa's prevailing wage determinations for program supervisor roles are set by the Department of Labor based on the specific county and job title, which affects what an H-1B sponsoring employer must pay. Iowa's large public university system and nonprofit behavioral health network create meaningful cap-exempt sponsorship opportunities that bypass the annual H-1B lottery. Candidates with credentials in licensed clinical social work, public health, or education administration tend to have stronger sponsorship prospects in this state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program supervisor jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
