Which companies sponsor visas for sales development representatives in California?
Enterprise software and SaaS companies are the most consistent sponsors for SDR roles in California. Companies like Salesforce, Oracle, ServiceNow, Workday, and Zendesk have sponsored SDR positions in the past. Larger organizations with dedicated HR and immigration teams are generally more equipped to manage sponsorship than early-stage startups, though well-funded Series B and C companies also hire sponsored SDRs.
Which visa types are most common for sales development representative roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for SDR roles, though sponsorship depends on the employer classifying the position as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT work authorization are often the most attractive to California employers, as sponsorship costs and timelines are deferred. The O-1A is an option for SDRs with demonstrable exceptional achievement in sales or business development.
Which cities in California have the most sales development representative sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area, including San Jose and Santa Clara, account for the majority of sponsored SDR roles in California given the density of enterprise software companies headquartered there. Los Angeles has a growing tech and media-tech sector with SDR demand, particularly in ad-tech and e-commerce. San Diego also has a notable presence in biotech and cybersecurity companies that hire SDRs.
How to find sales development representative visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify California-based SDR roles at companies that have sponsored work visas before. Rather than sifting through thousands of general listings, you can search directly for sales development representative positions in California where sponsorship is confirmed or historically documented, saving significant time during a job search.
Are there any California-specific considerations for SDR visa sponsorship candidates?
California's high concentration of tech companies means SDR roles here often require proficiency with tools like Salesforce CRM, Outreach, or Salesloft, and candidates with that experience are more competitive. California also has strong pipelines from universities like UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC, meaning sponsored candidates need a clear differentiation. Prevailing wage requirements under H-1B apply based on the San Francisco or Los Angeles metropolitan area, which are among the higher wage tiers nationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored sales development representative jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
