ROLE
Subscription/SW: SAP Subscription Management - SOM (BRIM) Solution Architect
Onshore / Offshore
Onshore
Job Description
HPE’s acquisition of Juniper Networks is one of the most significant moves in the company’s history, bringing two networking leaders together to build HPE Networking, with the ambition of creating the best networking business on the planet. This role sits at the center of that effort as part of the Lead-to-Cash (L2C) program, responsible for unifying quoting, ordering, and fulfillment across the combined HPE and Juniper networking portfolios onto a single platform, replacing fragmented legacy systems with one seamless, scalable experience for sellers, partners, and customers worldwide.
As part of a fast-moving, multi-year transformation, the team will stabilize near-term operations, migrate core platforms, onboard businesses and suppliers globally, and build new capabilities from the ground up. The choices made here will shape how the combined networking business operates for years to come. You will work closely with business leaders, IT architects, suppliers, and partner stakeholders on a program with direct executive visibility, solving integration challenges at a scale few companies ever attempt.
For the right person, this is a rare opportunity to help build a new business unit from its earliest days, rather than inherit someone else’s systems. You will gain hands-on exposure to enterprise-scale platform integration and cross-functional program leadership, with the kind of complexity and pace that can accelerate your career. If you want your work to have a visible impact on a company making a significant investment in its future, this is where that happens.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for SAP Subscription Order Management (SOM) within SAP BRIM, covering subscription order capture, provisioning, and lifecycle change processes across the combined HPE and Juniper networking portfolios.
- Define the target-state design for subscription and consumption-based offers, including product and rate-plan modelling, technical and master agreements, and one-off, recurring, and usage-based charging.
- Architect integrations across the Lead-to-Cash landscape — CPQ and quoting, SAP SOM, Convergent Charging and Convergent Invoicing, FI-CA, revenue accounting, and downstream fulfillment and entitlement systems.
- Translate business requirements into architecture artifacts: solution blueprints, process and data flows, interface specifications, and design decision records.
- Act as design authority for the workstream — review functional and technical designs, enforce SAP best practice, and resolve cross-workstream design conflicts.
- Partner with the data and migration teams on the migration of legacy subscription contracts and install base into the unified platform.
- Guide onshore and offshore development teams through build, unit test, and defect resolution, ensuring delivery matches the approved design.
- Identify and mitigate design risks relating to scalability, performance, and operational supportability at HPE volumes.
- Support test strategy, cutover planning, and HyperCare, including root-cause analysis of production issues in the subscription order flow.
- Advise business and IT leadership on trade-offs, standard-versus-custom decisions, and roadmap alignment with SAP product direction.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree an asset.
- 10+ years of SAP experience, including 5+ years focused on SAP BRIM (Billing and Revenue Innovation Management).
- At least two full-lifecycle SAP SOM implementations in a solution architect or lead design role, from blueprint through HyperCare.
- Demonstrated experience architecting subscription or consumption-based commercial models in a high-tech, networking, software, or telecommunications environment.
- Experience delivering within large, multi-year transformation or post-merger integration programs with global scope.
- Experience working in agile or SAFe delivery models with distributed onshore and offshore teams.
- SAP certification in BRIM / SOM or S/4HANA Sales is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Deep functional and technical knowledge of SAP SOM: subscription contracts, provisioning, technical and master agreements, change processes, and pricing and charging configuration.
- Working knowledge of the wider BRIM suite — Convergent Charging, Convergent Invoicing, FI-CA, and revenue accounting and reporting (RAR) and of S/4HANA Sales and order management.
- Strong grasp of integration patterns and tooling: SAP BTP / Integration Suite (CPI), APIs, OData, IDoc, and event-driven interfaces to CPQ, CRM, and fulfillment systems.
- Ability to model complex product catalogues, rate plans, and entitlements, and to reason about their downstream billing and revenue impact.
- Proven design-authority skills: able to document, defend, and govern architecture decisions across competing stakeholder priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present architecture trade-offs to both executive and technical audiences.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-moving integration program.
- Collaborative working style across business, IT, supplier, and partner stakeholders in multiple time zones.

Which companies sponsor visas for solution engineers in California?
Enterprise software and cloud companies are the most active sponsors for solution engineer roles in California. Salesforce, Adobe, ServiceNow, Databricks, Palo Alto Networks, and Snowflake have all filed H-1B visa petitions for solution engineers in California based on Department of Labor disclosure data. Larger tech firms tend to have dedicated immigration teams and more predictable sponsorship processes than early-stage startups.
Which visa types are most common for solution engineers in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for solution engineer roles in California, as the position typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN visa status in the engineer or computer systems analyst categories, depending on role classification.
Which cities in California have the most solution engineer sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, San Francisco, and Santa Clara, accounts for the highest concentration of solution engineer sponsorship jobs in California, driven by the density of enterprise SaaS and infrastructure companies headquartered there. Los Angeles has a growing presence, particularly in media technology and cloud services. San Diego also sees demand from cybersecurity and biotech-adjacent software firms.
How to find solution engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, and filters by role and state so you can browse solution engineer openings in California directly. Because solution engineer roles often require employer-initiated sponsorship, focusing your search on companies with a documented history of H-1B or E-3 visa filings in California improves your chances significantly. Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have actively sponsored roles like this one.
Are there state-specific factors that affect solution engineer sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor guidelines apply to any H-1B or E-3 petition, and wages in the Bay Area are benchmarked to some of the highest prevailing wage levels in the country. California also has strong university pipelines through UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, and USC that feed solution engineer talent pools, meaning employers are accustomed to sponsoring international graduates from these programs. No additional state-level immigration requirements apply beyond federal visa rules.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solution engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
