Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international legal professionals with Colorado firms that sponsor visas. Focus on Denver's downtown legal district and Boulder's tech-focused practices. Target firms with energy, natural resources, and technology practices, as these areas have the highest demand for specialized international talent. What are the bar admission requirements for international attorneys in Colorado?
Colorado allows foreign-educated attorneys to take the bar exam if their legal education is substantially equivalent to a U.S. law degree, as determined by the Colorado Board of Law Examiners. Most visa-sponsored positions require Colorado bar admission within a specific timeframe. Some firms hire pending bar results, particularly for candidates with LL.M. degrees from U.S. law schools.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored legal jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
