Which companies and organizations sponsor visas for program assistants in Colorado?
Federal agencies and their contractors, public universities such as the University of Colorado system, and large nonprofits in Denver and Boulder have historically sponsored visas for program assistant roles. Research institutions and public health organizations are also active sponsors. Sponsorship patterns vary by employer size and funding structure, so reviewing individual job postings for explicit sponsorship statements is the most reliable approach.
Which visa types are most common for program assistant roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for program assistants when the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some program assistant positions at universities may qualify for J-1 exchange visitor status. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization can also take up these roles while their employer initiates longer-term sponsorship.
How to find program assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find program assistant openings in Colorado without sorting through roles that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by location to focus on Denver, Boulder, or Colorado Springs. Because program assistant sponsorship depends heavily on the employer type and funding source, using a sponsorship-focused platform like Migrate Mate saves significant research time.
Which cities in Colorado have the most program assistant sponsorship jobs?
Denver concentrates the largest share of program assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by federal agency offices, large nonprofits, and healthcare organizations headquartered there. Boulder follows closely, supported by the University of Colorado and a dense cluster of research and technology employers. Colorado Springs also generates program assistant roles, particularly through defense contractors and federal agencies operating near military installations in the region.
Are there any state-specific considerations for program assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's economy is heavily shaped by federal government activity, higher education, and the life sciences sector, all of which tend to have more established HR infrastructure for processing work visa sponsorships. The University of Colorado system and federally funded research programs have consistent pipelines for internationally trained program support staff. Roles tied to federal grants sometimes have additional compliance requirements that can affect the sponsorship timeline.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program assistant jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
