Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in Connecticut?
Yale New Haven Health, Hartford HealthCare, and Trinity Health Of New England are among Connecticut's largest health systems with documented histories of sponsoring international healthcare workers. Long-term care operators and skilled nursing facilities, including those affiliated with national chains such as Genesis Healthcare, have also sponsored LPNs in Connecticut. Sponsorship availability varies by facility, census levels, and current staffing needs, so confirming directly with each employer is important.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in Connecticut?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for LPNs, as the role is classified under Schedule A, meaning employers are not required to complete PERM labor market testing before filing. This significantly speeds up the sponsorship process. H-1B visas are generally not applicable to LPN roles because the position does not consistently meet the specialty occupation standard. Some facilities also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals who qualify.
Which cities in Connecticut have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
Hartford and New Haven account for the largest concentration of LPN sponsorship opportunities in Connecticut, driven by their major academic medical centers and affiliated networks. Bridgeport, Waterbury, and New Britain also show consistent hiring activity, largely through community hospitals and long-term care facilities. Smaller cities like Danbury and Norwich have active skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers that periodically sponsor international LPNs.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Connecticut?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers and filters specifically for visa sponsorship roles, including licensed practical nurse positions in Connecticut. You can search by state and role to see active openings from employers willing to sponsor. Because LPN sponsorship often moves through EB-3 pathways with longer timelines, starting your search early and targeting employers with established international hiring programs improves your chances significantly.
Are there any Connecticut-specific considerations for LPN visa sponsorship candidates?
Connecticut requires LPNs to hold an active state license issued by the Connecticut State Board of Examiners for Nursing. International candidates typically need to pass NCLEX-PN and may need a credentials evaluation through CGFNS or a similar body before licensure. Connecticut's cost of living, particularly in Fairfield County, is higher than the national average, which factors into prevailing wage determinations under EB-3 petitions. Proximity to New York City also means some Connecticut employers draw from a competitive labor pool.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in Connecticut?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
