Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in Kentucky?
Large health systems are the most active sponsors for licensed practical nurse roles in Kentucky. Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health in Louisville, UK HealthCare in Lexington, and Owensboro Health have histories of sponsoring international nursing staff. Long-term care networks and skilled nursing facility operators, including some national chains with Kentucky locations, also sponsor LPNs, particularly where local recruitment has not filled persistent vacancies.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in Kentucky?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for licensed practical nurses in Kentucky, as LPN roles typically qualify under the skilled or unskilled worker category depending on the position requirements. Some employers use the H-1B for nurses with a bachelor's degree in nursing, though LPN roles often do not meet the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already in the U.S. on other nonimmigrant status may also pursue employer-sponsored green card processes.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
Louisville consistently has the highest concentration of licensed practical nurse sponsorship opportunities in Kentucky, driven by its large hospital systems and growing long-term care sector. Lexington is the second most active market, supported by UK HealthCare and several regional medical centers. Bowling Green, Owensboro, and Covington also see sponsorship activity, particularly in skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers serving those metro areas.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for licensed practical nurse roles in Kentucky to see employers currently open to sponsorship. Because LPN sponsorship involves specific licensing steps through the Kentucky Board of Nursing alongside the immigration process, focusing your search on employers already familiar with both processes, as listed on Migrate Mate, saves significant time.
What state-specific considerations apply to licensed practical nurses seeking sponsorship in Kentucky?
International LPN candidates must obtain a Kentucky nursing license through the Kentucky Board of Nursing before practicing in the state. Kentucky is a Nurse Licensure Compact member, so candidates who license in Kentucky can work in other compact states without additional licensure. Employers sponsoring LPNs typically require proof of licensure or a clear path to licensure before finalizing a visa petition, so beginning the credentialing process early is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
