Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in Missouri?
Missouri's largest health systems, including BJC HealthCare, SSM Health, MU Health Care, and Mercy Health, have histories of sponsoring internationally trained nurses. Long-term care facilities and nursing home chains, which face persistent staffing shortages across the state, also pursue visa sponsorship for LPNs more frequently than many acute-care hospitals. Smaller regional hospitals in rural Missouri sometimes sponsor through staffing agencies with established immigration programs.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in Missouri?
Most LPNs coming to Missouri from abroad are sponsored through the EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa, which covers skilled and unskilled workers including licensed practical nurses. Because LPN roles typically require a one- to two-year diploma rather than a four-year degree, they generally do not qualify for H-1B visa specialty occupation status. Employers must complete PERM labor certification before filing an I-140 immigrant petition on the nurse's behalf.
Which cities in Missouri have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis and Kansas City account for the largest concentration of LPN sponsorship opportunities in Missouri, driven by dense networks of hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and long-term care facilities in both metro areas. Springfield sees consistent demand through Mercy Health and CoxHealth. Columbia, home to MU Health Care, is a smaller but active market, particularly for LPNs interested in academic medical center environments.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for internationally trained nurses and other international candidates seeking visa-sponsored positions in the U.S. You can filter directly by role and state to surface Missouri LPN openings where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because LPN sponsorship often runs through long-term care networks rather than major hospital systems, browsing the full Missouri LPN listings on Migrate Mate gives you broader coverage than general job searches.
Are there state-specific requirements for internationally trained LPNs practicing in Missouri?
Yes. Missouri requires internationally educated LPNs to obtain licensure through the Missouri State Board of Nursing before practicing. That process includes credential evaluation, verification that your nursing program meets Missouri's educational standards, and passing the NCLEX-PN exam. Missouri is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state as of mid-2025, so an LPN license from another state does not automatically grant practice rights in Missouri. Confirm current licensure status with the Board before accepting a position.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
