JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, responsible for utilizing the nursing process to deliver direct nursing care, using time and resources efficiently.

- Provide optimal, direct patient care and demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
- Communicate patient care needs to all members of the health care team.
- Contribute effectively to promote timely and efficient patient admission, transfer and discharge including providing appropriate patient education.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the primary care provider.
- Document patient status in an accurate, pertinent and concise manner.
- Assist with updating care plans.
- Delegate or assign aspects of patient care to health care team members (non-licensed) commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Knowledge and competency in performing baseline nursing skills.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
Education: Graduate of an accredited trade or vocational school of nursing.
Work Experience: One year relevant experience, new graduates accepted based upon position availability.
Training: N/A
License/Certification: Current New Mexico Nurse License and BLS certification required.
