Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in Florida?
Large hospital systems and long-term care operators are the most consistent sponsors for licensed practical nurses in Florida. HCA Healthcare, AdventHealth, Baptist Health South Florida, and BayCare Health System have histories of sponsoring international nursing staff. Skilled nursing facility operators and staffing agencies that place LPNs in Florida facilities also file sponsorship petitions, though sponsorship availability varies by facility and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in Florida?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for licensed practical nurses, as LPN roles typically qualify under the unskilled or skilled worker subcategories depending on the position's requirements. Some employers use the H-1B visa for nursing roles, though LPN positions do not always meet the specialty occupation threshold. Nurses entering through VisaScreen certification and NCLEX-PN licensure are typically processed through the EB-3 route with employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Florida have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville concentrate the highest volume of licensed practical nurse sponsorship opportunities in Florida, driven by large hospital campuses and extensive long-term care networks in each metro. South Florida's dense population and high proportion of elderly residents create strong demand in Palm Beach and Broward counties as well. Smaller markets like Gainesville and Tallahassee also have LPN openings tied to academic medical centers.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and you can filter directly for licensed practical nurse roles in Florida. This lets you focus on employers already open to sponsoring international staff rather than sorting through listings that don't mention sponsorship. Creating a profile and setting up alerts for Florida LPN postings helps you respond quickly when health systems open new sponsored positions.
Are there state-specific requirements licensed practical nurses should know before pursuing sponsorship in Florida?
Florida requires LPNs to hold an active license issued by the Florida Board of Nursing before beginning work, and international nurses must pass the NCLEX-PN regardless of where they trained. Florida also participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can simplify licensure if you're already licensed in another compact state. VisaScreen certification from CGFNS International is federally required for foreign-educated nurses entering on immigrant visas and must be completed before a visa is issued.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
