Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service for both pediatric and adult patients by performing direct patient care including:
- Assisting and administering medications
- Immunizations
- Test and procedures
- Patient instruction
- Patient flow
- Administer and document medications according to standards
- Phone triage
- Prescription refills
- Preparing exam rooms
- Maintenance dose allergy injections
- Must be able to interpret diagnostic test instructions, assist with procedures, and obtain diagnostic results from clinical information system
- Assist with patient calls as delegated by physicians or nursing staff
- Manage prescription renewals and authorizations
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary

- Experience with an electronic medical record
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
- Candidate must be an active team player with the ability to work independently; possess strong organization and prioritization skill; ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment; and have demonstrated problem solving skills
- The selected individual must also have excellent attendance
- Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty, and staff

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
