Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in West Virginia?
The largest sponsoring employers for licensed practical nurses in West Virginia are integrated health systems and long-term care networks. WVU Medicine, Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC), and Appalachian Regional Healthcare have historically filed for foreign workers in nursing roles. Skilled nursing facilities and regional hospital groups across rural counties also sponsor LPNs, particularly where local workforce pipelines fall short of patient care demand.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in West Virginia?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for licensed practical nurses in West Virginia, as LPN roles are classified under Schedule A, which exempts employers from the PERM labor market test. The H-1B is generally not applicable because LPN positions typically do not meet the specialty occupation requirement. Some facilities also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals who qualify under USMCA.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
Charleston and Morgantown account for the largest share of sponsored LPN positions in West Virginia, anchored by CAMC and WVU Medicine respectively. Huntington, home to Cabell Huntington Hospital, is another active hiring center. Beyond these urban hubs, rural counties including Mercer, Wood, and Raleigh have significant long-term care and critical access hospital demand that drives additional sponsorship activity.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia, with listings filtered specifically for internationally sponsored roles. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces LPN positions where employers have an established history of sponsoring foreign workers, saving significant research time for candidates navigating the EB-3 or TN pathways in this state.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally sponsored LPNs working in West Virginia?
Internationally sponsored LPNs must obtain a West Virginia state license through the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses before beginning work. Foreign-trained nurses typically need a credentials evaluation, an English language proficiency test, and must pass the NCLEX-PN. West Virginia's Certificate of Need regulations shape where facilities can expand, which affects long-term hiring volumes in certain counties and care settings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
