Which companies sponsor visas for licensed practical nurses in Texas?
Major Texas health systems that have sponsored LPN visas include HCA Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health, CHRISTUS Health, UT Health, and Texas Health Resources. Long-term care operators such as Kindred Healthcare and Genesis HealthCare also have a history of sponsoring internationally trained nurses in Texas. Staffing agencies contracted with these networks sometimes facilitate the sponsorship process as well.
Which visa types are most common for licensed practical nurse roles in Texas?
LPN roles in Texas are most commonly sponsored through the EB-3 immigrant visa, which covers skilled and unskilled workers and does not require a bachelor's degree. Some employers use the H-1B visa, though LPN positions must meet specialty occupation requirements for that category, which can be a higher bar. Nurses from certain countries may also be eligible for the TN visa under USMCA provisions.
Which cities in Texas have the most licensed practical nurse sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth account for the largest share of LPN sponsorship opportunities in Texas, given the concentration of large hospital systems and long-term care facilities in those metros. San Antonio has significant demand tied to its military and veteran healthcare infrastructure. Austin is a growing market as its population expands rapidly. Smaller cities like Lubbock and El Paso also post LPN openings tied to regional health systems.
How to find licensed practical nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter by state and role to find LPN positions in Texas where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. This is more efficient than general job boards because listings are pre-filtered for sponsorship, saving you the time of screening employers one by one.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained LPNs seeking sponsorship in Texas?
Texas requires LPNs to hold a valid license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, which typically requires passing the NCLEX-PN exam and meeting English proficiency standards. Internationally trained nurses must have their credentials evaluated before applying for licensure. Texas is a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so an active compact license from another state is valid there. EB-3 sponsorship timelines can be lengthy depending on the applicant's country of birth.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored licensed practical nurse jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
