Which sports companies sponsor H-1B visas in Delaware?
The most active H-1B visa sponsors in Delaware's sports sector include the University of Delaware, which has filed petitions for athletics and kinesiology-related roles, and corporate sponsors of the Delaware Blue Coats. Larger regional organizations with Delaware operations, including sports technology and media companies headquartered in Wilmington, also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for H-1B filings.
Which cities in Delaware have the most sports H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington is the primary hub for sports H-1B roles in Delaware, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters and proximity to Philadelphia-area professional franchises. Newark is the second most active area, anchored by the University of Delaware's athletics department and affiliated sports science programs. Dover sees limited H-1B activity in sports but occasionally posts roles tied to motorsports events at Dover Motor Speedway.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in sports requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles that commonly meet this standard include sports analytics, data science applied to performance or fan engagement, sports marketing, physical therapy and athletic training, and sports business operations. General coaching or athletic performance roles without a clear degree requirement often do not qualify.
How do I find sports H-1B sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers targeting H-1B sponsorship, and you can filter directly by state and industry to find sports roles in Delaware. Because Delaware's sports job market is smaller than neighboring states, setting up alerts and checking regularly gives you an edge when new postings appear. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with a verified history of H-1B filings, which removes much of the guesswork around sponsorship willingness.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Delaware's sports industry?
Delaware has no state income tax on wages for nonresidents who only earn income there, which is a practical consideration for H-1B workers commuting from Pennsylvania or New Jersey. The state's small size means the sports employment market is limited, so many H-1B candidates in the region use Delaware roles as part of a broader tri-state job search. Delaware's strong corporate law environment also means many sports holding companies are incorporated there, even if operations are based elsewhere.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B sports jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
