Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, one of the largest health systems in the mid-Atlantic region, is among the most active H-1B visa sponsors in Delaware's healthcare sector. Nemours Children's Health, Beebe Healthcare, and Bayhealth Medical Center have also filed H-1B petitions for clinical and specialty roles. Academic and research-affiliated positions at institutions connected to the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University's Delaware campuses are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which cities in Delaware have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the largest share of healthcare H-1B sponsorship activity in Delaware, driven by ChristianaCare's flagship hospital and Nemours' regional operations. Newark is another concentration point, particularly for research-adjacent and academic medical roles near the University of Delaware. Dover, as the state capital, hosts Bayhealth Medical Center and state health agency positions, though sponsorship volume there is lower than in the northern part of the state.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Delaware?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field are eligible for H-1B classification as specialty occupations. In Delaware's healthcare sector, this includes physicians, surgeons, clinical researchers, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and medical imaging specialists. Registered nursing positions face more scrutiny because USCIS has historically questioned whether the role consistently requires a bachelor's degree, though some employers do successfully sponsor nurses.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for H-1B sponsorship, and you can filter directly by state and industry to surface healthcare roles in Delaware. This removes the guesswork of identifying which employers are willing to sponsor. Focusing your search on health systems with documented H-1B filing histories in Delaware, such as ChristianaCare and Nemours, significantly improves your chances of finding a genuinely sponsorship-open opportunity.
Are there any Delaware-specific considerations for healthcare H-1B sponsorship?
Delaware's healthcare market is small relative to neighboring states, so the number of active H-1B sponsors is more limited than in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. However, the state's geographic position within the Philadelphia metropolitan area means many Delaware employers recruit from the same talent pool and are familiar with international hiring. Delaware also has no state income tax on wages for qualifying individuals, which can be a relevant factor when evaluating total compensation alongside federal obligations.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
