Which insurance companies in Florida sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Florida-based insurers that have historically brought on CPT students include Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Universal Insurance Holdings, Heritage Insurance Holdings, and FedNat. National carriers with large Florida operations, such as Allstate, State Farm, and Berkshire Hathaway's insurance subsidiaries, also recruit CPT students for internship and co-op programs, particularly in actuarial and data analytics functions. Availability changes each hiring cycle, so confirming CPT eligibility directly with each employer's HR team is important.
Which cities in Florida have the most insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Jacksonville leads Florida for insurance employment, home to major back-office operations for carriers and third-party administrators. Tampa is a strong second, with a concentration of specialty insurance, reinsurance, and insurtech employers. Miami attracts international-facing roles in commercial insurance and risk management, given its ties to Latin American markets. Orlando has a smaller but active insurance job market, particularly within health insurance and benefits administration.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Florida?
Roles that align well with CPT authorization in Florida's insurance sector include actuarial intern, underwriting analyst, data scientist, risk analyst, claims analyst, and compliance analyst positions. These roles typically require quantitative or business-related coursework, making them a natural fit for degree program requirements that CPT must satisfy. General sales or customer service roles are less commonly structured as formal CPT placements, since CPT must be an integral or required part of an established curriculum.
How do I find insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, so you can search Florida insurance roles without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Beyond Migrate Mate, check your university's career center for employer partnerships, since many Florida insurers recruit directly through campus programs at University of Florida, Florida State University, and University of South Florida, which have established actuarial and risk management programs.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the insurance industry?
Florida's property insurance market is unusually volatile due to hurricane exposure, which has led to insurer insolvencies and market exits in recent years. This means some smaller Florida-domiciled carriers may not have the HR infrastructure to support formal CPT placements. Larger national carriers and well-capitalized regional insurers are generally better positioned to manage CPT paperwork. Students should also confirm that any CPT role is authorized through their Designated School Official before accepting an offer, regardless of what the employer represents.
