Which companies sponsor visas for IT support technicians in Florida?
Large employers with established sponsorship programs in Florida include Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Citigroup, AdventHealth, and major managed service providers operating out of Orlando, Miami, and Tampa. Defense contractors in the Space Coast corridor and healthcare systems in Central Florida have historically filed H-1B visa petitions for IT support roles, though sponsorship decisions vary by position and headcount needs.
Which visa types are most common for IT support technician roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for IT support technicians in Florida, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is typically required. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may use the TN visa under the USMCA. F-1 graduates can also work under OPT or STEM OPT before pursuing employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Florida have the most IT support technician sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads for financial services and corporate IT support roles, while Orlando is strong for hospitality tech, healthcare IT, and defense contractors near the Space Coast. Tampa's growing tech sector, anchored by companies like Raymond James and WillowTree, also generates consistent demand. Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale round out the market, particularly for banking and logistics IT support positions.
How to find IT support technician visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters IT support technician jobs in Florida specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're not sifting through postings that won't consider international candidates. The platform surfaces roles from employers who have sponsored work visas in the past, which is particularly useful in Florida where sponsorship availability varies significantly between the defense, healthcare, and financial services sectors.
Are there any state-specific considerations for IT support technicians seeking sponsorship in Florida?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation relative to federal prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions, a factor worth understanding when evaluating offers. The state also has a large university system, including the University of Florida and Florida International University, creating active OPT pipelines that employers in Miami and Orlando are familiar with, making them more accustomed to sponsoring international IT hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it support technician jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
