Which companies sponsor visas for respiratory therapists in Florida?
Florida's largest hospital systems are the most active sponsors. AdventHealth, HCA Florida Healthcare, Jackson Health System, Tampa General Hospital, and Orlando Health have all sponsored respiratory therapists through employment-based visa categories. Staffing and travel healthcare agencies operating in Florida also sponsor internationally trained therapists, though terms and petition types vary by employer. Checking each employer's HR documentation and LCA disclosure data gives the clearest picture of sponsorship activity.
Which visa types are most common for respiratory therapist roles in Florida?
Respiratory therapy qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree, making H-1B the most common visa path. However, many Florida employers also sponsor through EB-3 (skilled worker) immigrant visa petitions, which suits candidates seeking permanent residence. Candidates from countries with qualifying trade agreements, such as Australia or Chile, may have access to E-3 or H-1B1 alternatives. Each employer's willingness to file varies, so confirming sponsorship capability early in the hiring process matters.
Which cities in Florida have the most respiratory therapist sponsorship jobs?
Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville concentrate the highest volume of respiratory therapist openings with visa sponsorship potential. Miami's large hospital networks and internationally diverse patient population make it particularly active for internationally trained clinicians. Orlando's growing hospital corridor and Tampa's major academic medical centers also generate consistent demand. Smaller markets like Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, and Pensacola see lower volume but can have less competitive hiring conditions.
How to find respiratory therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international candidates seeking visa-sponsoring employers. You can filter by state and role to surface respiratory therapist positions in Florida where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Beyond browsing the Migrate Mate job board, reviewing Labor Condition Application disclosure data from the Department of Labor helps identify which Florida hospitals have historically sponsored respiratory therapists, giving you a targeted list of employers worth approaching directly.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for respiratory therapists pursuing visa sponsorship?
Florida requires respiratory therapists to hold a state license through the Florida Department of Health before practicing, which means international candidates must verify credential equivalency and pass required exams prior to or alongside the visa process. Florida's large retiree population and high prevalence of cardiopulmonary conditions sustain strong demand in long-term care and home health settings alongside hospitals. Programs at the University of Florida and University of South Florida produce domestic graduates, so employer demand for internationally trained candidates tends to concentrate in high-volume acute care facilities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored respiratory therapist jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
