Which companies sponsor visas for respiratory therapists in Ohio?
The largest sponsors in Ohio are major health systems with dedicated international recruitment programs. Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, University Hospitals, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center have all sponsored respiratory therapists through the H-1B program. Smaller regional hospital groups and long-term acute care facilities also sponsor, though less consistently. Checking a facility's prior H-1B filing history through the DOL OFLC disclosure database helps confirm sponsorship willingness before applying.
Which visa types are most common for respiratory therapist roles in Ohio?
H-1B is the most common visa category for respiratory therapists in Ohio, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in respiratory care. Some employers also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals who meet the professional credential requirements. EB-3 immigrant visas appear in permanent sponsorship cases, particularly at larger health systems that support full green card sponsorship.
Which cities in Ohio have the most respiratory therapist sponsorship jobs?
Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati account for the largest share of respiratory therapist sponsorship opportunities in Ohio. Cleveland benefits from the concentration of major academic medical centers including Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Columbus is Ohio's fastest-growing metro with OhioHealth and Nationwide Children's Hospital driving demand. Cincinnati hosts several large hospital networks and is home to one of the country's leading pediatric research centers, which regularly recruits internationally.
How to find respiratory therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter respiratory therapist roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support your situation. Because Ohio's sponsorship openings are concentrated at a handful of large health systems, using Migrate Mate to track postings from Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, and University Hospitals gives you a practical starting point for targeting employers with a documented history of sponsoring this role.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for respiratory therapists seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio requires respiratory therapists to hold a state license from the Ohio Medical Board, and employers typically expect licensure to be in place or in process before sponsorship begins. Graduates from programs at Ohio State University, Cincinnati State, and Columbus State Community College feed directly into regional hospital hiring pipelines. Ohio also participates in national prevailing wage determinations, so sponsored positions must meet DOL wage levels for the Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati metropolitan statistical areas, depending on work location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored respiratory therapist jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
