Which companies sponsor visas for respiratory therapists in Pennsylvania?
The largest sponsors of respiratory therapists in Pennsylvania are major integrated health systems. UPMC, which operates dozens of facilities across western Pennsylvania, has sponsored international clinical staff including respiratory therapists. Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Geisinger Health System are among the other established employers in this state with documented H-1B and PERM sponsorship histories for healthcare roles.
Which visa types are most common for respiratory therapist roles in Pennsylvania?
Respiratory therapists in Pennsylvania most commonly come to the U.S. on H-1B visas, which require employer sponsorship and classify the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Some employers also sponsor EB-3 immigrant visas for qualified candidates, particularly for direct permanent residence pathways. Candidates holding TN status from Canada or Mexico may also qualify if their credentials meet USMCA professional category requirements.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most respiratory therapist sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh generate the highest volume of respiratory therapist sponsorship opportunities in Pennsylvania, driven by the concentration of large academic medical centers and hospital networks in both metros. Allentown, through Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Harrisburg, anchored by Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and UPMC Pinnacle, are secondary markets with active hiring and demonstrated sponsorship activity for clinical respiratory roles.
How to find respiratory therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters respiratory therapist roles in Pennsylvania by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support work authorization. Search respiratory therapist positions filtered to Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate to find employers actively hiring for sponsored roles, and review each listing for details on visa types supported and credentialing requirements specific to Pennsylvania-licensed positions.
Are there state-specific requirements or considerations for international respiratory therapists working in Pennsylvania?
International respiratory therapists must obtain licensure from the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine before practicing, which typically requires verifying foreign credentials through an approved evaluation service. Pennsylvania requires candidates to hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care. Employers sponsoring H-1B petitions must also file a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the specific region and role classification within Pennsylvania.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored respiratory therapist jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
