Which construction companies sponsor TN visas in Florida?
Large general contractors and engineering firms active in Florida, including Turner Construction, Skanska, Balfour Beatty, AECOM, and Jacobs Engineering, have historically hired Canadian professionals in roles that qualify for TN status. Sponsorship availability varies by project pipeline and hiring need. Firms managing large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or mixed-use developments in South Florida and the I-4 corridor tend to have the most consistent demand for technical roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most construction TN sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state for construction activity, with significant commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects concentrated in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Orlando is a strong second, driven by hospitality, theme park, and data center construction. Tampa and Jacksonville both have active general contracting and civil engineering markets. Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach also see steady demand, particularly for project management and engineering roles.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN status in construction is generally available to roles that require a specific professional degree, most commonly civil engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, and land surveyors. Project managers with engineering degrees may also qualify depending on how the position is defined. General labor, site supervision, and trades roles do not qualify, as TN requires the position to fall within a designated professional occupation with a corresponding academic credential.
How do I find construction TN sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa type, making it straightforward to browse construction roles in Florida where employers are open to TN sponsorship. Because TN eligibility depends on how the role is classified, focus your search on engineering, architecture, and project management titles. Migrate Mate lets you filter by both state and visa category so you can narrow results to Florida construction employers actively considering Canadian professionals.
Are there Florida-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in construction?
Florida does not impose state-level licensing barriers specific to TN holders beyond those that apply to all professionals, but engineers and architects practicing in the state must meet Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation licensure requirements regardless of immigration status. Canadian credentials are generally recognized through standard equivalency review, though the process takes time and should be started before accepting an offer. Florida's year-round construction season means hiring is relatively consistent compared to northern states.
