JOB PURPOSE
At Rebel Systems, we're not just engineers. We are disruptors, creators, and innovators on a mission to transform the defense market. The battlefield of tomorrow demands technologies that are smarter, lighter, and more cost effective at scale. We're building them today.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical/Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced PCBAs for power electronics and hybrid systems applications. This role demands strong expertise in schematic capture, PCB layout using Altium Designer, and a deep understanding of power systems engineering. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with high-voltage, high-power designs and the ability to take projects from concept through production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and development of PCBAs for power electronics applications, including DC-DC converters, motor drives, and hybrid energy systems.
- Utilize Altium Designer to perform schematic capture, multi-layer PCB layout, and prepare complete manufacturing documentation.
- Conduct design simulations and analyses (SPICE, thermal, SI/PI) to ensure electrical, mechanical, and thermal integrity.
- Optimize designs for thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and manufacturability (DFM).
- Perform hands-on prototype bring-up, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of developed hardware.
- Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- Author clear documentation for designs, test procedures, and compliance certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience designing and testing PCBAs for power electronics applications.
- 5+ years of experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and complex multi-layer PCB layouts.
- Strong working knowledge of power electronics principles, including switching converters, motor drives, battery management, and hybrid energy systems.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), and familiarity with fabrication and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of relevant standards such as IPC, UL, CE, and best practices for compliance and testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct experience designing for high-voltage (>400VDC) or high-power (>5kW) applications.
- Expertise with thermal design techniques and EMI/EMC mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with firmware and embedded systems development for hardware validation (even at the troubleshooting level).
- Experience with system-level integration involving power management and control architectures.

Which electronics companies sponsor TN visas in Florida?
Florida has a strong base of electronics employers with a history of sponsoring TN visas. Lockheed Martin, L3Harris Technologies, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman maintain significant operations in the state, particularly around Orlando, Melbourne, and Tampa. Harris has its headquarters in Melbourne. Consumer electronics and semiconductor firms are also active in the Miami and Tampa areas.
Which cities in Florida have the most electronics TN sponsorship jobs?
Orlando and the Space Coast region, including Melbourne and Titusville, concentrate a large share of Florida's electronics and defense electronics hiring. Tampa Bay is another active hub, with employers in communications hardware and defense systems. Miami attracts electronics firms with ties to Latin American markets. Gainesville has a smaller but notable presence driven by University of Florida spin-off technology companies.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
Roles that most commonly qualify for TN status in electronics include electrical engineers, electronics engineers, computer engineers, and systems engineers, provided the position requires a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline. Hardware design, embedded systems, RF engineering, and printed circuit board design roles frequently meet the specialty occupation criteria. Quality assurance engineers with an electronics engineering background also commonly qualify.
How do I find electronics TN sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for candidates who need visa sponsorship, including TN sponsorship for electronics roles in Florida. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface relevant openings at Florida employers who are open to sponsoring TN candidates. This saves considerable time compared to sifting through general job listings where sponsorship availability is often unclear.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in electronics?
Florida's electronics sector is heavily tied to defense and aerospace, which means many roles require security clearances. A TN visa does not automatically confer eligibility for a U.S. security clearance, and clearance eligibility for foreign nationals involves a separate, complex adjudication process. Candidates targeting defense electronics employers in Florida should discuss clearance requirements with prospective employers early, as this can affect whether a role is accessible on TN status.
