About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at two Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta or Lorraine (North America or Europe) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a Full Professor and Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Energy Systems.
Georgia Tech seeks a visionary and accomplished leader with a distinguished record of research achievement in power and energy, broadly defined, including areas such as energy conversion, energy materials and devices, power electronics, controls, and power systems. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work addresses the rapidly evolving energy landscape and enables the energy transition and electrification of society.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Grid-connected and inverter-dominated power systems
- Grid-forming technologies and advanced power-system controls
- Microgrids, grid-edge technologies, and resilient energy systems
- Advanced protection, power quality, and harmonic mitigation in converter-dominated power systems
- Energy storage and advanced energy technologies
- Electrification of transportation and industrial sectors
- Power conversion and architectures for data centers and AI
- Advanced power semiconductor devices and systems
- Emerging energy technologies, including applied superconductivity, nuclear power, and fusion
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized power and energy research program with extensive laboratory facilities, research infrastructure, and strong collaborations across Georgia Tech and beyond. The appointee will be expected to bring new research directions, technologies, collaborators, and talent to Georgia Tech and establish a major research center or institute around the extensive laboratory space dedicated to this position. The position provides an exceptional opportunity to shape the next generation of energy technologies while building a large-scale, interdisciplinary research enterprise.
Candidates are expected to have an outstanding record of research accomplishment and leadership, commensurate with appointment at the rank of Full Professor, as well as a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in translating research discoveries into real-world impact, including technology transfer, industry partnerships, commercialization, entrepreneurship, or the development of new companies and products.
As a GRA Eminent Scholar, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to technology translation, entrepreneurship, industry engagement, and economic development, while establishing a nationally and internationally visible research program.
