Many positions require security clearance eligibility, so check requirements before applying to maximize your chances.
Which visa types are most common for government roles in Idaho?
H-1B visas dominate for specialized government positions in engineering, cybersecurity, and research at Idaho National Laboratory. O-1 visas are used for distinguished scientists and researchers. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying roles. Some positions may require security clearance, which can affect visa eligibility and processing.
Which cities in Idaho have the most government sponsorship jobs?

Idaho Falls follows closely due to Idaho National Laboratory's research operations. Coeur d'Alene has federal positions through Forest Service and other agencies. Pocatello provides opportunities through regional federal installations and university partnerships.
What are prevailing wage considerations for government jobs in Idaho?

What is the prevailing wage for sponsored government jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
