Which companies sponsor visas for compliance specialists in Illinois?
Chicago-based financial institutions and healthcare organizations are among the most active sponsors. Northern Trust, Aon, Hyatt, Abbott Laboratories, and United Airlines have histories of H-1B filings for compliance-related roles. Large insurance companies headquartered in Illinois, including Allstate and Zurich North America, also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for compliance and regulatory positions.
Which visa types are most common for compliance specialist roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for compliance specialists in Illinois, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as law, finance, accounting, or a related discipline, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. L-1B visas apply when a multinational employer transfers a compliance professional from an overseas office. O-1 visas are rare for this role category but possible for specialists with exceptional regulatory expertise.
Which cities in Illinois have the most compliance specialist sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of compliance specialist sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, healthcare, and commodities firms. The suburbs of Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Schaumburg also see activity from large employers like Baxter International, Grainger, and Motorola Solutions. Outside the Chicago metro area, sponsorship opportunities for compliance roles are significantly more limited.
How to find compliance specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, making it practical to search for compliance specialist roles in Illinois without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Chicago-area employers in finance, healthcare, and insurance, the industries most actively sponsoring compliance professionals in the state. Migrate Mate's data is sourced to reflect actual sponsorship activity.
Are there state-specific considerations for compliance specialists seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois compliance roles often require familiarity with both federal regulations and state-specific frameworks, including Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation requirements and Illinois insurance law. Employers in regulated industries tend to file LCAs reflecting Chicago's prevailing wage levels, which are among the higher benchmarks in the Midwest. The University of Chicago, Northwestern, and DePaul supply a strong domestic pipeline, so international candidates benefit from specializing in areas like AML, sanctions compliance, or healthcare regulatory affairs where demand consistently exceeds local supply.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored compliance specialist jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
