Which technology companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Illinois?
Illinois technology employers that have historically hired international students on CPT include Morningstar, Allstate's tech division, Uptake Technologies, and the Chicago offices of Accenture, Deloitte Digital, and Salesforce. Fintech firms along Chicago's LaSalle Street corridor and enterprise software companies in the suburbs also participate in CPT hiring, particularly for internship and co-op programs tied to university curricula.
Which cities in Illinois have the most technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the majority of technology CPT opportunities in Illinois, particularly in the River North, West Loop, and Fulton Market neighborhoods where many technology and fintech employers are headquartered. Evanston benefits from its proximity to Northwestern University, and Champaign-Urbana generates CPT roles connected to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's strong engineering and computer science programs.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that most commonly qualify for CPT in Illinois technology companies include software engineering internships, data science and machine learning positions, cybersecurity analyst roles, product management co-ops, and IT infrastructure internships. The position must be an integral part of your enrolled degree program, so the work needs to connect directly to your academic field of study as defined by your institution's Designated School Official.
How do I find technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students seeking CPT-eligible technology roles in states like Illinois. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface employers who have actively hired F-1 CPT students in technology. This saves significant time compared to manually researching which Illinois companies understand CPT and have the HR infrastructure to support it.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in technology?
Illinois does not impose state-level restrictions on CPT employment, but international students at Illinois schools should confirm their program's CPT authorization timeline with their DSO before applying, since some universities require enrollment in a specific co-op course to activate eligibility. Chicago's large consulting and fintech sectors often structure CPT roles as defined internship cohorts with fixed start dates, so applying early matters.
