Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for project coordinators?
Large employers with established sponsorship track records include Accenture, Deloitte, and Hyatt in Chicago's corporate sector, along with healthcare systems like Northwestern Medicine and Rush University Medical Center. Construction and engineering firms such as Skanska and AECOM also file H-1B petitions for project coordination roles. University systems including the University of Illinois and University of Chicago are additional sponsors worth targeting.
What visa types are most common for project coordinator roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project coordinators in Illinois, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as engineering, construction management, or information systems. Some roles in technology or consulting may also qualify under the L-1B for intracompany transferees. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain eligible occupations.
Which cities in Illinois have the most project coordinator sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of project coordinator sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, construction projects, and technology firms. Suburban areas including Oak Brook, Naperville, and Schaumburg host additional employers in logistics, consulting, and manufacturing. Champaign-Urbana offers opportunities tied to the University of Illinois and its affiliated research and tech ecosystem.
How to find project coordinator visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse project coordinator roles in Illinois without sifting through postings from employers unwilling to sponsor. You can filter by location and role to focus on Chicago, Naperville, or other Illinois markets. Migrate Mate's listings reflect employers who have demonstrated sponsorship history, saving significant research time for international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project coordinators seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois project coordinator roles are subject to Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which vary by county and metropolitan area. Chicago falls under a higher wage jurisdiction than downstate markets, so employers must meet those benchmarks in their Labor Condition Application. Illinois also has a strong pipeline of international graduates from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and IIT, which contributes to employer familiarity with sponsoring candidates in engineering and construction management fields.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project coordinator jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
