Which companies sponsor visas for project executives in Illinois?
Large construction management and professional services firms are among the most active sponsors for project executive roles in Illinois. Companies such as Turner Construction, Skanska, AECOM, Jacobs Engineering, and Accenture have filed Labor Condition Applications for senior project leadership positions in the Chicago metro area. Technology and consulting firms headquartered or with major offices along the Wacker Drive corridor also sponsor at this level.
Which visa types are most common for project executive roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project executives in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with demonstrated industry leadership may also qualify for the O-1A for extraordinary ability. Intracompany transferees at multinational firms may be eligible for the L-1A manager or executive classification.
Which cities in Illinois have the most project executive sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of project executive sponsorship activity in Illinois. The city's ongoing infrastructure investment, including transit modernization and large-scale mixed-use developments in the West Loop and Fulton Market districts, drives consistent demand. Suburban areas such as Schaumburg and Rosemont, home to corporate campuses and data center projects, also generate project executive openings, though at lower volume than the Chicago core.
How to find project executive visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify project executive roles in Illinois where employers are open to sponsoring. Because project executive positions are senior-level, listings move quickly. Searching Migrate Mate by role and state lets you focus on employers who have an active sponsorship history in construction, infrastructure, and professional services across the Chicago metro area.
Are there state-specific factors that affect project executive visa sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa requirements beyond federal standards, but the prevailing wage determination for project executives in the Chicago metropolitan area is among the higher benchmarks in the Midwest, reflecting the city's cost of labor. Employers must certify they will pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the role. Illinois is also home to several major research universities whose graduate programs create a pipeline of international talent into senior project management careers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project executive jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
