Which companies sponsor visas for project management coordinators in Illinois?
Large Illinois-based employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories include Boeing, Caterpillar, Walgreens Boots Alliance, United Airlines, Baxter International, and Hyatt. Chicago-area consulting and technology firms such as Accenture, Deloitte, and Motorola Solutions also hire project management coordinators and have filed LCAs for similar roles. Sponsorship activity is heaviest in manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and professional services sectors.
Which visa types are most common for project management coordinator roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project management coordinator positions in Illinois, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, engineering, or information systems. Some coordinators transition through OPT or STEM OPT while employed. The L-1B is also used when candidates transfer within a multinational company from an overseas office to an Illinois location.
Which cities in Illinois have the most project management coordinator sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the large majority of project management coordinator sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its density of corporate headquarters, consulting firms, and healthcare systems. The broader metro suburbs, including Downers Grove, Lisle, and Northbrook, also generate openings through large employers like Advocate Health and Dover Corporation. Peoria has a smaller but active market tied to Caterpillar's manufacturing and operations divisions.
How to find project management coordinator visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for project management coordinator roles in Illinois without sifting through postings that don't support sponsorship. You can filter by location and role to surface openings from Illinois employers who have active LCA filings or stated sponsorship willingness, saving significant time compared to unfiltered general job searches.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project management coordinators in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa filing requirements, but the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for Cook County and the Chicago metro area reflect a high-cost market, meaning employers must meet elevated wage thresholds on the LCA. University pipelines from the University of Illinois, Northwestern, and DePaul supply a significant share of OPT candidates who later pursue H-1B sponsorship in coordinator roles across the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project management coordinator jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
