The Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) has been providing advanced specialty and emergency veterinary care to the community since 2004. About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Overnight Shift Supervisor to join our nursing leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on supporting daily hospital operations, developing team members, and ensuring exceptional patient and client care during overnight hours.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, highly collaborative, and passionate about coaching and supporting veterinary teams in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment.
What You’ll Do
- Provide real-time leadership, support, and coaching to nursing team members during overnight shifts
- Partner closely with DVMs and hospital leadership to support patient care and operational efficiency
- Help coordinate workflow, prioritize tasks, and remove barriers to care delivery
- Deliver constructive feedback and support ongoing team development
- Address and de-escalate interpersonal conflicts professionally and respectfully
- Lead shift huddles and communicate hospital priorities and updates
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture aligned with hospital values
- Support training initiatives and encourage continuous learning and growth
- Monitor staffing and operational needs while escalating concerns appropriately
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a veterinary emergency or specialty hospital
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care
- Veterinary technician/nurse certification preferred
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
