INTRODUCTION
IU COL ATHLETICS (IN-ATHC-IUINA) Indiana University (IU) Columbus enrolls approximately 1000 students as a branch campus of IU Indianapolis, and undergraduate and graduate students have access to degrees from IU conferred in Columbus. Students engage in classes of the same rigor and academic experiences as any student at IU, but on a smaller, more close-knit campus. IU Columbus strives to be the destination for those who seek a high-quality education and a welcoming, distinctive small university experience that prepares our students to collaborate and contribute in meaningful and significant ways both locally and globally to twenty-first-century communities. IU Columbus is seeking to fill the role of Head Baseball Coach (NAIA).
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is primarily responsible for the development of all aspects of a competitive intercollegiate sport program for the baseball program with general oversight by departmental leaders. This role is tasked with making recruiting and scheduling decisions independently in consultation with departmental leaders.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
- Develops all aspects of the baseball program at IU Columbus including recruiting, training, and coaching quality student athletes as members of the program.
- Provides a quality competitive experience expected by a college athlete.
- Provides direction to other program coaching staff and program members.
- Plans and executes the schedule of all contests, practices, and other athletic events in compliance with departmental and IU policies, NAIA conference regulations, as well as other regulatory bodies applicable.
- Under the direction of departmental leaders, acts as a liaison for athletics and staff to aid in athletic administration and continued development of the IU Columbus Department of Athletics; coordinates schedules within the organization and with external partners; monitors routine maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment; assists in budget planning and reporting; oversees transportation for the program; and assists at athletic events as assigned.
- Monitors academic progress of the student athletes involved in the program and refer students to assistance as needed; develops opportunities for student athletes to participate in service activities and NAIA Champions of Character programs.
- Directs the physical, competitive, academic, and emotional development of student athletes.
- Plans and executes practice and competition plans.
- Responsible for budgetary control, scheduling assistance, promotions, public relations, and the overall effective performance of the student athletes and coaching staff.
General Responsibilities:
- Complies fully with all NAIA, applicable athletic conference, and IU rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student athletes by counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, sportsmanship, and personal matters, as appropriate.
- Develops a competitively successful team to represent IU positively and responsibly. Provides student athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals.
- Performs recruiting duties by formulating a plan to incorporate coverage of all prospective student athletes and recruiting high-quality student-athletes that meet or exceed university qualifications.
- Represents the team, department, and university in a positive, professional, and ethical manner; responds appropriately to media, marketing, fund-raising, and community service requests, as assigned. Exhibits professionalism in a manner consistent with the missions and goals of Indiana University, applicable athletic conference, and the NAIA.
- Directs coaching staff, when applicable.
- Maintains program budget.

- Bachelor's degree.

- Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000
