Which insurance companies in Indiana sponsor work visas?
Major Indiana insurers that historically sponsor visas include Anthem (Indianapolis), CNO Financial Group, OneAmerica Financial Partners, and Baldwin & Lyons. Regional offices of national carriers like State Farm, Allstate, and Progressive also maintain operations in Indianapolis and may sponsor for specialized roles like actuaries, data scientists, and senior underwriters.
How to find insurance visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for insurance positions in Indiana that offer visa sponsorship. Filter by location (Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville) and role type (actuary, underwriter, claims analyst). Many Indiana insurers prefer candidates with actuarial credentials or advanced degrees in statistics, finance, or economics from local universities like Purdue or Indiana University.
What visa types are most common for insurance jobs in Indiana?
H-1B visas dominate for actuarial and analytical roles requiring specialized knowledge in risk modeling, statistics, or advanced mathematics. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican professionals in actuarial science. O-1 visas occasionally apply for senior executives or consulting actuaries with exceptional track records in insurance innovation or regulatory expertise.
Which Indiana cities have the most insurance visa sponsorship opportunities?
Indianapolis leads with 70% of Indiana's insurance visa sponsorship jobs, hosting major carriers' headquarters and regional offices. Fort Wayne offers opportunities with smaller insurers and regional operations. Evansville and Bloomington have limited but growing insurance sectors, primarily focused on agricultural and specialty insurance products.
Are prevailing wages different for insurance roles in Indiana compared to coastal states?
Yes, prevailing wages for insurance professionals in Indiana typically run 15-25% lower than New York or California markets. However, the lower cost of living often results in comparable purchasing power. Actuarial roles still command competitive wages due to skill scarcity, while underwriting and claims positions reflect regional market rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
